Question about Compaq Armada 1500C Notebook

Serial Number Issue

When I attempt to install my system disk it ask for the Compaq computer product serial number.  I located the serial number on the back of the laptop...but the program says it is not valid.  I have tried with the caps lock on and off.  Could you please help me?!? Could the serial numbr be incorrect?!?! Do you know of a serial number I can use to run the program?!?

    Hi...The serial number the program is requesting is 12 spaces(letters and numbers) .......the Windows sticker was removed before I purchased the computer.

    I have tried putting in the Windows Product Key..but it only allows 12 spaces...any other ideas?

The only Serial that I know of that should be asked for is the Windows Product Key, This should be on a microsoft sticker on the underside of your laptop, if it is not there check your documentation as it may be there instead.

    Hmm it is possible that the serial is incorrect. or that there are confusable digits, IE I & l & 1, O & 0, B & 8, S & 5, some fonts make distinguising between these characters nearly impossible (especially for Cap I Lower case L and 1)



    Try substituting any confusable characters.



    If that fails, you may need to call Compaq to see if they will give you a serial to use or a bypass code.

How can i get a product key for my hp 6730b


Nobody is going to supply you with the product key. Not MS, not HP.
The good news is you don't need the product key if you order a set of restore disks for your notebook from HP. They come with a pre-activated copy of Windows Vista (probably Vista Business), which is specifically made for your machine.
If you live in the USA or Canada, here's how to get a set for $10.00:
1. Write down the part # and serial # on the bottom of the computer on the white tag. The model # is an HP-Compaq 6730b, but the part number will be found on that white tag below the serial #.

2. Call HP at 1-800-952-7689, option 1 (ordering restore disks is part of the list in the option).

3. Provide the info asked by the rep that answers the phone. Some just ask for the serial #, some want both, or they will just want the serial number and type of computer (6730b).

4. Have a Master Card or Visa ready for purchasing. They don't take Discover. You will be charged $10.00.

You will receive the disks by First Class Mail or you can pay an additional $10.00 for FedEx shipping.

(S/N)

The Serial Number (S/N) should be on the Bottom of the laptop.
Usually very close to the Windows product key.

I need help replacing HDD in Presario r3000 laptop. Old HDD is dead.

The Operating System is on the Harddrive.

Windows.

You have physically installed a Harddrive that is Blank. No Operating System on it.
Suggest use the Restoration Disk, and perform a Full Install.
(Destructive Installation)

The Restoration Disk has the basic Windows files on it.

How do i get a serial number so i can finish installing a quick restore disk?

Normally serial numbers arrive with the product, maybe the serial number of the Notebook would suffice. Can't understand why a serial number did not arrive with restore disc.

Check the Sound Drivers in device manager if the device is not installed you need to download the drivers from HP Web site by using the Product Number
If you can please specify the Product Number and Serial Number of the Laptop

Sometimes a serial number will be imprinted on a receipt, depending on where you bought the computer...or on packaging that you might have saved...
I've seen suggestions that it might be possible to locate it in the cmos/bios setup, but that doesn't seem too likely to me, and if you found one there, it's hard to believe it would be the same as the production ser. #.
You could try sending a support request to Acer, describing your situation... they might have some trick to locate critical info like hitting esc or F2 as it boots, but it may scroll by too quickly to read...
