Make sure that the starter wires are secure and in the right place first. It could also be a sticking solenoid. I suspect a wire not connected to the starter. Let me know if it works so I can help you more.

This should solve your problem.
Next time you want to take something apart, be sure to take a picture or 2, before you disconnect anything. That will help you put it back like it was.

When I connect the battery the blinkers come on constantly glowing, nothing else works, check the fuses, the alternator fuse is blown, replace that, connect the battery fuse blows again. 2007 solara.

Bad alternator or short in alternator wiring. You much need a wiring diagram. Is that the car? Was in an accident? You may have pinched wiring or a wire shorted to ground. Try new fuse with alternator disconnected, then with key on, connect alternator-watch for sparks, or clicks, -you might want to have the alternator tested, just to be sure. You have to start somewhere...
Maybe a wiring short in the blinker system? Or is the fuse blowing an alternator fuse?

go to any national chain parts store and they will pull the code for you-I'd guess based on what you wrote that it is a crank or cam sensor, or a bad ignition module.

2001 VW GOLF. battery draining over night, a friend of mine who's a mecanic put a light tester to the battery and checked all the fuses no leak there, disconnected the glove compart light switch...

Hi there?
You need to test the battery itself. It could be faulty battery. Some batteries have a little LED bult in them, green led good battery, amber led battery needs charging, red led battery needs replacing.
You could allways disconnect the battery after the use of the car. if the battery still goes flat then you need to replace that battery.

Can removing the battery terminals with the key still in the ignition be responsible for damaging the wiring system of my VRG6 golf? This has lead to damage of the coil to the spark plugs.

In a word.....NO
My daughter has a Jetta..... electrical problems are common in these cars.... remove the key, let the car sit for an hour with the battery disconnected.... connect the battery, turn the key to the run position but DON'T start the engine...... let it sit like that for about 2 minutes.... if there are no issues with the car, is should start right up and run fine after that
