Recorded Video Image Problem

During the recording, two "water-streams" (blurred vertical lines) appeared on the left and right of the screen. Unfortunately they appear on the final version of the video as well. As an audio recorder was used a separate device - zoom h4n, which was mounted on top of the camera. Is there a possibility of interference between the devices, or it might be a pure encoding/lense problem?

SOURCE: Not able to record the image

I had the same problem. Called Canon tech support @ 1-800-828-4040. Was told it is a problem caused by a chip going bad, and that Canon will repair my camcorder free of charge. They send you a couple of emails. You fill out the form, mail your camcorder off for the repair. You should get your ZR85 camera back in about two weeks.

Vertical lines

If the lines appear on the tape this way when it is recorded, then the CCD unit is going out on the camcorder. If it isn't recording the lines then the viewfinder wiring or screen is damaged.

You should problably take it into a camera shop to see if its worth fixing.

Recorded images has verticle lines

No, most camcorders doesn’t work when you recording the image directly on the screen, that means you use your camcorder shot directly to the screen. Maybe the frequency is different, I have tried used RC plugs directly connect to the VCR and recorded, it is much clear.

The image is getting blurred

Hi

The camera may have moved when the picture was taken. Try steadily squeezing the button intead of a quick press.

2.Try using a tripod, this could fix the blurred images.

3. faster shutter speed will be needed if you need to hold the camera, and cannot use a tripod.

4. Main reason for the lines could be that the subject is to bright.
A vertical bar of light(red, purple) appears on the LCD monitor/ in the viewfinder This is a normal occurrence in devices containing CCDs (Digital Cameras) and does not mean a malfunction. (This red bar of light will not be recorded when shooting still photos, but it will be recorded when shooting
movies.)

Solution to the last point would be to try and switch of the flash if it is in use. Turn the ISO setting (50, 100, 200) to a lower one as well.

Hope that helps.

LCD won't project

You may have a problem with the image sensor device (CCD). From October 3, 2005 through October 2, 2007, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned problem where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue. To see if you have this problem: Power On your camcorder (make sure the battery is fully charged). Check the LCD screen and verify that the display icons are turned on. If you cannot see the icons, press the Display button until the icons are visible. Put a tape in the camcorder. With the lens cap off, record some video. NOTE: Be sure to speak during the recording so the video will contain your voice. Rewind this section of the tape (using tape counter to verify start of your recording). Play back the recorded video and use the LCD screen on the camcorder to view it. You should hear the audio you recorded and the Display icons/text will still appear. If your camcorder is affected by this CCD issue, the picture will either be extremely distorted, or there will be no visible picture (just a blank LCD screen with the display icons still visible).

Why are there vertical lines or bars on the monitor screen when I record a movie?

Recording a movie of a subject that is brightly lit by the sun or some other very bright light source can cause vertical lines or bars to appear in the image during playback. This is due to a CCD phenomenon called "smearing." Note that lines or bars appear in movie images only, but not in snapshots. Smearing does not indicate malfunction of the camera.
