Nuvi 660 will not figure a route and states "the memory is full"

Haven't heard of this issue but there's a lot of surplus stuff in the memory that can be safely deleted. Try connecting to the computer so you can see the files on the nuvi. Remove a lot of unnecessary voices and text languages. If you need Turkish or whatever in the future it can always be reloaded via the free Garmin WebUpdater. If you don't have WebUpater download it anyway (from the Garmin web site) as it's an easy way to check your GPS has the latest software and bug fixes.

My Garmin 660 will no longer plot a destination...

Have you loaded a lot of JPGs or MP3s on the internal memory? If so, you have reduced the amount of memory available to the 660's OS. Not sure if the 660 stores calculated routes directly to the internal flash memory, but it is very likely, since it keeps your route when you power it down.

To unload the internal memory, consider buying an SD card - they are cheap right now. As a matter of fact, I just ordered an 8GB SD card for my 660 from Amazon for $13. The 4GB and 2GB cards are available for about $7 and $3 respectively. Drrrrrt cheap!

You can access the internal memory of the 660 on your computer with the USB cable you got with the 660. The two folders to focus on are the JPEG and MP3 folders. Simply copy these folders' contents to the root directory of the SD card, and then go into each folder in the GPS memory and delete the MP3s and JPEGs you added - should work better. The 660 will recognize the files on the card if left in folders named identically to the folders in the internal memory.

If you didn't add any content to the internal memory, that is a different issue altogether, probably something to discuss with Garmin. Could be as simple as upgrading the firmware. Make sure you select the correct version though, or it could be a fancy brick! Go here for the nuvi 660:

Good luck, and I hope this helped!

I keep getting memory full message and route waypoints full on nuvi 610/660

The Navigator memory card will come with the a countrie's maps. Maybe you need to take the memory card into the computer and download more maps. Also try to erase the nt middle east location and start over.

Garmin Nuvi 650 660 680 6XX SD Card PNY 4GB SDHC Works

just got my A-Data 8GB card today and proceeded to load it up with 7.2GB of MP3s (nearly full capacity).

I timed with my wrist watch the bootup times and there was no difference in the boot times whether the SD card loaded up with MP3's was inserted in the unit or not. What did change is that even one minute after booting up the songs wouldn't show up in the "MP3 Player" window, it just had a blanked out browse button and a generic icon like it has when no music is loaded.

It took a full 90 seconds or so for the MP3 player to actually become responsive and show my selections, but after that it was working normally (from what I can tell).

Best Regards,

Nuvi 660 not working

1-Check if you have 500 waypoints, Thats the maximum.

Be sure you delete the recents search via the menu. the recent use when you did a search for a place or adress, just delete.

2- could you confirm both of you if you did not add any other maps into the units ?

3- How many MP3 you have into the GARMIN files ?

Need this to answer your question properly ?

It should not happen if you did not overload the unit 660.

Everything has a maximum who is published by the manufacturer.

Best regards

Memory full is being displayed when i try to go to a new destination and when i try to delete a favourite the unit turns off.

Garmin nuvi 610 T
memory full was being displayed on screen whilst on destination ,sometimes followed by route waypoint memory full .

I found by turning unit off , then holding finger on top left of screen ,and at the same time turning back on again the unit would go into maintenance mode.
Follow prompts on screen to reset waypoint memory.
Mine works as good as gold now, hope this helps!

Says memory full and will not work

Hi dogman33, This is a common problem with the nuvi 660s with older firmware. Garmin's solution is to perform a "hard reset" and to upgrade the device firmware. Upgrading firmware is an easy procedure, just visit Garmin's website ( and download the software called WebUpdater. Run that and follow its directions. Here is how you can perform a hard reset to clear all your waypoint memory: MAINTENANCE MODE: Step 1. Turn your Nuvi unit off, remove any SD cards from the SD card slot and make sure that the unit is not plugged into any computer. Step 2. Place a fingertip on the upper left hand corner of the touch screen and keep it there while turning the unit on, a prompt should read " Do you really want to start in maintenance mode?" Step 3. Select the yes button. Step 4. Enter your PIN if enabled. Step 5. Main Maintenance Mode screen should have 4 selections: System information View Diagnostics Clear User data Clear Waypoints Step 6. Choose "Clear Waypoints". After some time the unit should reboot. Hope this is helpful! spydee
