If you refill the same cartridge that was in the printer
the printer would recognized the cartridge as being out off ink
you need to install another different black cartridge
the printer will identify this as a new cartridge
you then reinstall the previous cartridge back in
the printer will now recognized it as a new cartridge

Printer wont acknowledge ink loading

Make sure you are using genuine Lexmark cartridges. Refilled cartridges won't be able to register ink levels. If you are using original supplies, it could be just a slight cartridge communication error. Try the steps below:
  1. Make sure the printer is on. Open the printer cover.
  2. The carrier should move to its loading position. Open the latch and remove the cartridges.
  3. Close the latch.
  4. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, and re-insert after 10 seconds.
  5. When the printer turns on, re-insert the cartridges. Close the printer cover.
  6. Check on your computer if ink level is acknowledged.
  7. Try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Bought compatible cartridges for lexmark S405 all in one. Won't authenticate them. locked out of printing. Any ideas

For the most optimal output experience with your AIO, Lexmark recommends that customers update their firmware. The firmware helps ensure that customers receive the highest yields of ink available from the cartridges, which offers the greatest value and means fewer necessary cartridge replacements.

If you choose to upgrade firmware, note that unauthorized use of third-party 'cloned' cartridges will no longer be possible.

When purchasing ink cartridges, Lexmark customers have two options:

Regular ink cartridges without license terms (100A/100XLA) that you may a) return to Lexmark free of charge (for recycling by Lexmark), b) refill, recycle or remanufacture themselves, or c) provide to third parties for refilling, recycling, or remanufacturing. Any Regular ink cartridge can be refilled by a customer or a third party and will continue to work in their Lexmark printer.

Return Program ink cartridges that provide customers with an up-front discount in exchange for their agreement to use the ink cartridge once and return it only to Lexmark for remanufacturing and recycling.

When opening my printer to get to the cartridges, they are stuck inside the printer and won't move. The on/off button is flashing.

Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Follow the steps below:

1. Unplug the printer from the power source.

2. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip that connects from the carrier assembly to the ink cartridge carrier and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer.

3. Remove the used cartridges.

4. Load the new cartridges. Close the cover.

5. Plug the printer back to the power source.

I am replacing the #97 color ink cartridge and my printer left ink icon blinks and doesn't appear to recognize the new cartridge

Is the cartridge "new" or "refilled" ?

Remove the ink-cartridge.
Turn the printer off.
Disconnect the AC power cord.
Reconnect the AC power cord.
Turn the printer on.
Re-insert the ink-cartridge, and be sure that it is "seated" fully and correctly.

How to load a MP130 cartridge?

  • 1 Turn on the printer and check the LCD screen for an indication of which ink cartridges are low. Note that recycled ink cartridges sometimes read "Ink low" even when they still have ink, so print a test page if you're not sure.
  • 2 Expose the ink tray by lifting the entire LCD control panel, which is attached to the underside of the copier tray.
  • 3 Pull out the used ink cartridge by pulling straight up from the print head,

  • 4, insert the new cartridge into the print head and push down until you feel a click. Close the printer lid and let the printer reset the ink tray.
  • 5 Print a test page to make sure the new ink works. If it doesn't, you may have forgotten to remove the protective tab under the cartridge.

I refilled my cartridge and now my printer is not working. Apparently a chip is needed but is not available yet!

Must use Samsung Ink,not recycle like cartridge world, because there is a chip inside the board prevent privacy or recycle ink, i am a tech, i know how to shorten the chip so you can buy recycle ink cartridge. but its illegal to do that(but who care). Now my printer work on either Samsung ink or recycle ink.

Why are only black and yellow printing?

The printer has two ink-cartridges: black and tri-color.
The black cartridge has ink left.
The tri-color cartridge has run out of 2 of the 3 colours of ink.
    Buy a replacement tri-color cartridge,
and responsibly recycle the "empty" cartridge.

Printer does not print.I can't seem to get the ink cartriges out.

If the ink-cartridges do not move to a central position when you open the lid, then the mechanism that moves the ink-cartridges is broken.

    Take the printer to a recycling centre, and responsibly recycle it;
it is more expensive to try to repair it, than it would be to replace it.
