Question about Samsung HT-DS1000 System

Problem with disc tray opening on its own.

I've had a random issue over the last couple weeks with my HT-ds1000 where I'm watching TV and all of a sudden the disc tray would open on my receiver, which changes the audio from Digital input to DVD - thus muting my tv show.

I thought this was a random thing until this morning.  In the last hour the disc tray has opened and closed on its own at least a dozen times, each time kicking me out of my tv audio input.  It's been turned on and off, and the power has been unplugged.  Neither has worked.

Suggestions???  I've only had the system for a couple years, and would be real disappointed if this thing is already crapping out - I had to stop using the internal DVD player because it got to where it couldn't go thru a full movie without freezing multiple times, even after going in for repair.

Re: Problem with disc tray opening on its own.

The micro-switch that tells the dvd drive it is closed is probably faulty. On most optical drives of some kind if the device senses that it is not closed - the switch has not been pressed - then it will open it again because it thinks there is something stuck in it. There may be something in your device that is stopping it close or the contacts on the switch may be dirty or you may just have a faulty switch. This would explain the random opening of your drive.

Hope this helps,

Why does disc tray open randomly Samsung ht-em54c

I had the problem of the disk tray opening and closing randomly but finally fixed it. I went thru a number of steps so I don't know which combination or individual step fixed it but I think it was changing the HDMI cable from the TV to the Blu ray player that finally fixed the problem. Previous to that I had removed the disk player and got the audio to work with only the TV and used one of the HDMI inputs as the output from my PC. That way I could play DVDs on my PC and run it thru the player to get audio in the speakers and video on the TV. Every once in a while the tray would try to eject (even though the player was not there). Finally I changed the HDMI cable to an older cable, the one between the TV and the player and it started working! I then put the disk player back in the unit and it all worked, everything!! Good luck!

Samsung HT-E3500 region-free

I have a new HT-E3500, and after 20 minutes I got the following to work.

The trick seemed to be not holding the repeat key too long.

I have a Region B/4, running 080604.01_050708-1_XSA code.

I used the R4 code from below.

1) Turn on the player with no disc in the tray
Wait till the unit is at the Samsung logo screen.
2) Open then close the tray, wait to see the No-Disc Message in the top Left Corner
3) Now press the REPEAT button on the remote, followed by a five digit code.
In this case Repeat 76884

Now it to me about 20 tries to get this to work, It needed to be done without delay.
So if you don't get it to work straight away don't loose heart.

4) When it works a 4 will appear in the top left corner

5) Press 9 to make it regionless.
6) Press Eject to OPEN to open the disc tray.
7) Press Eject to CLOSE to close the disc tray.

8) Power the unit off

9) Now power the unit on again, it should now read all regions of DVD Disc.

From other threads I got the follow list of region codes.

R1 - 29334
R2 - 57538
R3 - 56732
R4 - 76884
R5 - 53814
R6 - 24462

How to make my Samsung HT-BD8200 region free?

1. Open the disc tray and remove any discs
2. Close the disc tray
3. Switch Off Player and Unplug from mains wait minimum 30 seconds - this resets the memory, and RAM of the DVD/BlueRay
4. Make sure your TV is on as usual, and Reconnect to mains
5. Turn on your DVD/Blueray player with remote and wait for the "no disc" message to appear
6. PS! As quickly as possible, using your controller press - ENTER 8 4 2 6 9 ENTER
7. You have been successful when a blue box appears in the top left-hand side of the TV Screen, displaying the message "DVD Region Free"

You may have to attempt the "ENTER 8 4 2 6 9 ENTER" sequence several times before you get the Region Free message if you're not quick enough.

Hello! Pls, send diagram connector to sub-woofer Samsung HT-DS1000. I want to connect low signal(Sub woofer) direct to amplifier. If connect to AUX - sub woofer sound with delay, no good sound. Thank...

The speaker connections are documented in the manual.

Register and download the manual for free at

Are we talking about an external add-on sub not supplied with the HT-DS1000? If so, please identify it.

The interconnecting cable itself is a 13-pin DIN.

I kept hitting the disc exhange/eject button to turn the unit on and after a couple of tries it finally opened about half way. The whole reason i wanted to open it was to get the last dvd that i watch out of it. Well in doing so i noticed that there were some discs rattling around up underneath the cd tray (from my 1 1/2 year old). After shaking the unit a couple of times i was able to get the discs out of the underside of the disc tray. When i hit the disc exchange to close the try the unit powered up, closed the tray, and operated fine and i am back to using it like i used to with out any other problems.

Dvd do not loads

Our started doing the same thing about a week after the warranty ran out. It has to do with the alignment of the discs being loaded. here's a work-around that works for us:
Open the tray
Choose which disc you are going to watch and use the Change Disc button to push the selected disc to the back (ie, if you want to view Disc 1, discs 3 and 4 will be visible in the tray).
Look down the center holes of discs 3 and 4... manually move your tray left-or-right to align the holes with the tray.
Push the Direct Play button on the top right of the unit for your disc of choice (Disc 1 using the example above).

hope that helps... I've searched for a while and played around with the unit (with and without the cover on) trying to figure out a way to re-align the tray, but no luck.
