Solved the problem. Had to set DSL modem to bridge mode and then set the router PPoE, provide ISP name and password information and bingo! works!!

Is it possible that DSL router needs you to add the rmote network to your trusted networks?

IPSec Passthrough: Enable Disable               PPTP Passthrough: Enable Disable               L2TP Passthrough: Enable Disable

Purchased a new D-link router, Cannot open my VPN for my work through the router, what is the problem. My VPN wored before my modem was connected to the router, what can I do?

Not all routers will pass all types of VPN successfully. My last D-Link router would pass a PPTP VPN with no problem, but completely choked on any attempt to pass an IPSEC VPN.
Since you never specified what model router you have, it's difficult to diagnose your problem beyond that observation.
Try a different brand or model of router and see if you get better results. Sad to say, I have found that the low-end routers work fine with completely vanilla networks, but they are very prone to annoying surprises like this when you try anything beyond what the average home user would try.

I bought this US Robotics wireless (model 5461 (Maxg)) maybe 3 years ago. I haven't used it in maybe 2 years and now it wouldn't work anymore. I recently switched apartments and computer, it used to work...

1.Log into router. Using either to in a browser window that is ( internet Explorer or Firefox)
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off) ( router status window)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address. This set up in the "security tab" in the router. using or to access through a browser.
6.Note router name you are connecting to.
7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet.
This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.
8. check for firmware update at the manufacturers site for your model router
9. cell phones, cordless phones, digital TV's, can affect the data signal from a router. Also distance from the router can be a factor. If your router is in a basement place the router to a upper floor and center it in the room.

HN9000 won't pass remote services

On the Router check if you have UPnP enabled, if yes then Disabel it that should fix the NAT issue and then you need to open the port number 1723,3389. Once these ports are opened then you will be able to access it on the VPN and Remote Desktop Provided you have a WAN IP Address from your ISP. also check the Firmware of the router if its updated or not.

Printing with Dlink DI-624S and VPN connection

I am guessing this VPN is something work related and not a VPN you setup yourself?? If that is the case your company's VPN access will not allow you to pass from there network back to yours which is why you are unable to print to your local home printer when connected to VPN. You might could run it by your IT staff and see if they will allow connection and help you set it up. If not then simply email the docs to yourself and then print them out after you are finished using VPN connection.

Hope this Helps

Cisco vpn will not work with verizon service now after we got a new modem through verizon

Verizon Home DSL service uses a special filter that prevents ALL incomming connection including web, email and VPN hosting from a home connection. Business internet does not limit this, and I don't believe FIOS blocks it. If you have verizon home, there's nothing you can do. If you're just trying to connect to a home machine, you can try something like gotomypc, or a free alternative like or

If you don't have verizon home dsl, comment back with what service you do have, and we can try some other things.

Two routers US robotics connected together

It appears you may have confused the world because of your IP addressing choices. Do you know what a subnet mask is? It determines which machines share the same network with other machines. Routers by design are the connection between different subnets, Most routers default to for the subnet mask which means both of your routers are in the same subnet as they are 192.168.2.? meaning you have two separate networks sharing the same same subnet address when they should be unique. Try making the wireless router or This puts devices in your wireless network on the 192.168.3 subnet and the devices in the ADSL subnet in the 192.168.2 subnet which includes the WAN half of the wireless router. I believe this will correct your network issues. In this case if hardcoded the gateway for the wireless router would be also known as the the adsl modem

Connecting VPN using Netgear 624

This is no small undertaking. You will first have to decide if you are going to use software or hardware vpn. Software vpn is free and only requires that you install it (the client) on whatever remote system you are using to connect to the 624. I can say that you want to have your internet connection point (DSL modem or Cable modem) set to "bridge" mode. This will pass through all traffic to the netgear directly. Some (like a speedstream 5200 DSL modem) allow this or they have a DMZ feature which will accomplish the same. Either way you want to ensure ALL ports and all traffic are getting to the netgear. Once that is done you simple create a string at both ends that match for your security phrase and an authentication that matches and you should be good. It's really a lot more than what could be provided here. (Several lengthy documents worth) but I can provide you with a useful link that will give you an a-z about VPN and has specific walkthroughs for Netgear users only. Hope this helps a little.
