New Ipod Touch 16 G using windows xp pro. Initially synched ok with itunes then for some reason stopped - I have installed adobe photoshop in the meanwhile but uninstalling it does not make the problem go away. I downloaded latest itunes still no joy. There is a mobile manager in usb section of Windows xp device driver but ipod does not show up in my computer. uninstalling and reinstalling itunes makes no difference. My 4 G nano 1st gen still synchs ok. Uninstalling mobile manager and reconnecting the ipod causes windows to reintall the device but reconnecting the ipod opens itunes with itunes frozen. No other program will work when this happens except c/a/del opening Task manager which says itunes not responding - closes itunes ok but same problem next time I try to synch. opening itunes without connecting the ipod touch is fine but as soon as I attach the ipod - itunes freezes again. Ive tried competely restoring the ipod using my laptop which will sync ok - so It cant be the ipod touch at fault nor the cable as Ive tried 2 cables and both work with the ipod nano. The desktopcomputer has all the photos and music on it. I managed to get the Ipod touch to synch one time only by connecting the 4G nano first which then synched ok - then attached the ipod touch and it synched once!. Unfortunately that was a one off and it wont synch now no matter what I try!!! Windows firewall is off I use Zone alarm and adaware - it doesnt make any difference if I disable them.

really annoying problem as I was going to buy another ipod touch for my dad but no point if this problem means its just a paper weight.

Hello! This problem is if you messed around with your iPod Touch a lot like hacking it. I hacked it before so I restored it so now it is very good! It is now version 1.1.2. Okay, if you want to fix this problem, hold the home button and the power button for 20-30 seconds until a yellow exclamation mark shows up to tell you to connect to iTunes, this worked for my friend's screwed up iPod Touch. Try this method okay? After you connected it to iTunes, check for updates right away and there you go!

Hope this works!

If your iPod doesn’t get turn off or it just freezes, not to worry as you can just follow the following steps and you get tuned in back again. 1.Toggle the Hold switch to Hold and then back off again. 2.Hold down Menu and Select (the center button) for about ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Hope this helps.

My iPod started locking up both iTunes and the iPod itself when I synced. At first it only did it when I tried to sync photos. Then gradually it started getting worse. It got to the point where I had to manually manage music and videos and could no longer sync podcasts at all. Then it finally started freezing up as soon as I hooked it up to my computer. After a few wasted hours of resetting, reinstalling, and cursing; I discovered I had a few days of warranty left, so I took it to an Apple Store. Without any hassle they told me the hard drive was dying and litterally handed me another (factory reconditioned) iPod. If your problems resemble this issue and you have some warranty left, you may want to get it into Apple to have them look it over.

Hi… when I got my iPod it was perfectly fine but after a few weeks it froze. When I turn off and then turn on the iPod the apple sign appears and stays that way. So, I tried to connect the iPod to my laptop but iTunes was unable to read it, so I left it connected for like an hour until it finally read it. I did the restore and everything was great, even the internet and all the other features worked perfectly but when I disconnected the iPod it froze again so I repeated the process again and again but nothing worked. Now there’s no way I can make iTunes read the iPod. I’ve try in several computers (Macs, windows) have tried different cables 2, nothing works…. Pls help

If your iPod is brand new, don't fuzz around and bring it right back to the apple store. If you're not under warranty, restore it to factory settings first. IIf it keeps happening after a firmware restore you have a broken logic board. Open the iPod and replace the board. The part is available on ebay. Here's a guide on how to disassemble an iPod. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to pay to have a service do it for you there are third party iPod Repair Services.

This happened to me so what i did was update my ipod touch to the latest version. JUST DON'T JAILBREAK IT,simply wait for version 2.0 for app store (some apps will be free)

I forget my passcode to get into my ipod touch

After a series of more failed attempts, your iPod displays the same "iPod is Disabled" message, but with an added "Connect to iTunes" message. At this point, your iPod shuts down completely and you cannot make any more attempts to enter the passcode. In order to restore the device at this stage, you need to connect it to a computer with iTunes installed. Ideally, connect it to a computer that you've used before for syncing your iPod.

Ipod's USB cable points to itunes icon on Ipod's screen and won't turn on. what can i do?

Hi tifftiffpup...
The ipod is requesting that you hook it up to Itunes...maybe for updates.
If nothing happens after you hook the ipod to itunes then you may have to do a restore.
You can restore you ipod but it will wipe all songs, video, messages, pictures, etc completely off the ipod...sometimes you have no choice but to do that and you have to reload everything back on...
Here is how you do a restore incase you do not know:

1...Make sure you have an Internet connection, you may need to download new updated versions of the iTunes or iPod Software.
2...Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
3...Open iTunes.
Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cable that came with your iPod.
4...After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
5...Select your iPod in the Source panel.
You will see some information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
6...Click Restore.
7...A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun.
When this stage is done, iTunes will show one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
8...Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter this typically applies to older iPod models.
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore this typically applies newer iPod models.
9...During part two of the restoreing process, the iPod will display an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display.
NOTE: It is very important that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage of the restore.
10...After the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear.
It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences.

Hi, I just received the newest version of ipod touch as a replacement for my old nano. I already have a full itunes library and wish to sync my new ipod touch so I can still have all my purchased songs....

Once itunes has finished syncing go to your ipod under devies and then click on the music tab and then click on sync music and choose the options you require from entire music library to playlists (my prefered option as you can prior to syncing set up an ipod playlist and add what music you want) or Artist, Genres or Albums. Once you have selected the options you require click on Apply at the bottom right corner. Hope this helps.

How to sync .ipa files from comp to iphone thru itunes ?

when you sync the iPhone with the computer, iTunes will only add what is new, it will not delete your apps.

Setting Up Syncing You use iTunes on your computer to set up which items are synced. Make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes (On a PC, open iTunes and choose Help > Check for Updates. On a Mac, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Check for Updates.
Step 1: Connect iPhone or iPod touch
  1. Connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer using the included cable. You can connect the cable from your computer directly to iPhone or iPod touch, or connect the cable from your computer to the Apple Universal Dock (available separately) and put iPhone or iPod touch in the dock. By default, iTunes opens automatically.
  2. Select iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes under Devices on the left hand side and click the Info tab.
Step 2: Set Up Which Items Are Synced Click the respective tabs in iTunes to specify which media and information you want synced from your computer to iPhone or iPod touch.
For more information about syncing iPhone with your computer see the iPhone User's Guide:
On your computer: click here to download and view "Chapter 1: Getting Started" in iPhone User Guide.
On iPhone: Tap Safari and view
For more information about syncing iPod touch with your computer:
On your computer, click here to download and view "Chapter 1: Getting Started" in iPod touch User Guide.
On iPod touch: Tap Safari and view

Step 3: Sync iPhone or iPod touch Click Apply in the lower-right corner of the screen. Your computer syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.
The first time you sync iPhone or iPod touch, you are asked if you want to merge data, replace data on the service, or replace the data on your computer. After that, anytime you connect iPhone or iPod touch to your computer, iTunes opens and syncs with iPhone or iPod touch according to your settings.
You can adjust sync settings anytime iPhone or iPod touch is connected to your computer. You can only connect and sync with one iPhone or iPod touch at the same time. If you need to sync more than one iPhone or iPod touch, disconnect one before connecting the other.
Note: Syncing won't delete any contact in Yahoo! Address Book that contains a Messenger ID, even if you've deleted the contact from your address book on iPhone or your computer. To delete a contact containing a Messenger ID, log in to your Yahoo! account online and delete the contact using Yahoo! Address Book.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Syncing my itouch with itunes

Itunes can sync infinite ipods and should have no trouble, so there isnt a problem with having two ipods. Try this: turn off your ipod, hold the home button, and plug it into itunes while still holding the home button until a picture of the itunes symbol appears with a cable under it. itunes should say "ipod found in restore mode". this will get rid of any previous users' settings, and hopefully fix anything preventing itunes from syncing with your ipod.

Ipod not getting connected to itunes nor getting charged, and please recommend which ipod converter to download. Thank you in advance my ipod is not charged, when connected to a computer

if your IPod touch is not connected to itunes, please try the ff:

Check the iPod touch Display
-- When you connect iPod touch to your computer, the iPod touch should display an image or message on the display

-- If you do not see any image, check some basic troubleshooting here:
-- If you see a message on the screen, this indicates that the iPod touch does not have sufficient battery charge to operate and will need to be charged for several minutes before it can be recognized in iTunes.

Verify Windows PC System Requirements

--iPod touch requires iTunes 7.4 or later
Check USB Connections

-- iPod touch requires USB 2.0 to function properly
-- Try connecting iPod touch to a different USB port, preferably a port that is built-in to the computer instead of an external USB hub. Connecting iPod touch to your keyboard's USB ports is not recommended.

Restart your PC

-- In some cases, your computer's USB ports may become temporarily disabled or you may experience other software related issues. Restarting your PC is an easy troubleshooting step that may resolve this issue.

Verify iPod touch Driver/Service Installation

-- iPod touch requires two important pieces of software to operate properly on Windows. First, the driver must be installed; for iPod touch the driver is USBAAPL.SYS. Second, Apple Mobile Device Support must be installed as a Windows Service.
