Winfax pro 10.3

When I try to scan a document for faxing using the "scan and send" command within Winfax Pro 10.3 I receive a "general protection fault."  The program closes requring that I reboot my PC.  It is not possible to re-open the program in order to try again without re-booting as I receive a message saying that the program is still running.

    I use V 10.3 on a stand alone PC. I have the same problem when I try to scan and send something I get a GPF and have to reboot. Sometimes it works OK but usually I have to reboot a few times before it works and I have not found any info on how to fix this. I use outlook express not outlook. Any ideas?

Hi there r u using Microsoft Win Xp SP2... or Microsoft outlook?If yes then i have a work around for ur problem...Let me know if this is the case..

    Microsoft out look 2003 i mean..as this is a very common problem in that thing..

    Thats it..Here's the fix..
    All you need to do is to disable the Outlook Intergration. To do this, go into Outlook 2003, select TOOLS;
    OPTIONS; MAIL SETUP; DATAFILES, then you will see WINFAXLOGS on the list. Highlight and REMOVE this file.
    You can always import a phone book in WinFax Pro to send faxes instead of trying to use Outlook 2003 that
    doesn't work. You will then be able to use winfax and outlook together.If you download the 10.04 patch
    from Symantec, Outlook will still not work....tried it.

The internet connection that you use doesn't matter with WinFax, since WinFax requires a fax modem to send and receive faxes. You cannotuse your broadband modem to send receive faxes with WinFax PRO. http://www.getfaxing.com/forums

"No acknowledgement received on last attempt"


Usually, this error occurs after sending a page, or prior to sending all the pages of a multipage fax.

There are many reasons why this occurs, and it is not always easy to determine why.

You may want to read up on "types of modems" found in the following document

also, winfax settings could be incorrect , or you might not have the best configuration setup for your modem in WinFax.

You need a fax modem. If you only have internet connection, you will not be able to send or receive faxes unless you subscribe to an internet fax service called www concordfax.com

Winfax problem


I got the same thing. Cleared all temporary files on system, rebooted and VOILA!!! it worked again.

Winfax pro suddenly faxing to wrong number


you have some options, so choose one.
  1. remove your fax
  2. configure your fax to answer later (maybe after ringing 10 times) and configure the winfax to answer before (something like ringing 5 times or less)
the problem here is that the fax answer and start receiving the fax and the winfax receive the fax signal at same time. check the winfax maybe you have the half part that the fax modem not has printed stored in winfax, maybe.

as I said, your better choice is removing the fax modem. even configuring like I said before, maybe the two continue to try to receive the fax at same time.

Winfax pro problem


This is a solution that was suggested for an earlier edition of the Winfax Pro, but there is no reason why it shouldn?t work on this one as well: 1. Close Winfax and any other program that has anything to do with it, delete all the temp files that yo don?t need. 2. Run Scandisk and fix any problems that may come up. 3. Run delfix.exe which is located in the winfax folder in the status files. 4. Run delfix-rebuild and delfix-optimize and check if the problem is solved. If the problem reoccurs there is another possibility- to change the name of the WinFax\data folder and create a new one which you will transfer the address book file, status files etc. from the old folder. Note that there might be some information that wouldn?t go through.
