I've had the system for about 3 years. I tried to watch a DVD the other night and the picture worked but there was no sound on any setting (DVD, Tuner, AUX). I'm thinking that maybe a fuse has blown and that is why there is no sound?

- I have checked all that; the system powers on, including the subwoofer, but there is no sound in any function. I even made sure thru the menu that all the speakers volume was turned up. I doubt that the cable connecting the DVD player and the subwoofer was damaged, which leads me to believe that a fuse controlling the overall system power has blown. Does anyone know where I can get replacement fuses?
first, look for a "speaker" swich that might have accedentaly got turned off, or a Mute button that might have got turned ON.
most of the fuses and such are rigged nowadays internally, so that all but a qualified service tech can't get to them. make sure of those buttons, first, then, if your not sure, take it in for service.

- your best bet is to probably hit the Radio Shack for parts. if you know what you're doing, go over all the circuts for the sound connection. something simple might have gone out. if the system is still using old-fashioned Component connections (or even wire-ins), double check the wires to the plugs for broken solder or popped wires. even a relatively new unit can get shook just enough to loosen things up.

My Philips HTS3440/37 System has suddenly stopped having sound. It does have sound a little. If I turn the unit ALL the way to the top it still has only maybe 1/2 the normal listening sound of a tv. It should be blasting me out of the house. Any ideas?
