Question about Modems

Inactive email I am upgrading from dial up to Broadband, I have received the broadband package along with a letter confirming me email address etc. It states that I will be email'd with the pass word. I am unable to access my email as it keeps coming up with an error message stating that it has been inactive for a long period of time. So that I can get the broadband up & running would it be possible for the password to be email'd to my work email instead?

Re: inactive email

State your problem and have them resend the password to your work e-mail. You should be good to go.

Describing Cheap Dial Up Internet Connections

Today you can find a 56k modem. Transmit data at a speed of fifty-six Kbit / s V.90 or V.92 protocol. You must understand that this is the fastest available dial-up modem. 56k is the limit of maximum bandwidth of a standard telephone line. Be sure to connect to the Internet in areas with less noise power to prevent low-speed Internet connection. At this pace, you can play online games, download large files, make video conferences or movies from a video streaming site. Many of these applications are not compatible with Internet Dial-face. A broadband cable high-speed, satellite or DSL Internet service are better preferences.

You should expect all to take a little time to coordinate a phone connection, negotiate the protocol and, finally, allow the transmission of data. In some places, this process is slower. Note that the entire system consists of three entities - the ISP, Telephone Company, and the user. All have the power to terminate the Internet connection for some reason.

Yes of course. Before the introduction of the latest 3G wireless high-speed cable and DSL broadband by satellite, it was a bestseller. Today, it's always a good option for remote areas that lack the technology or broadband fiber-to-date. Satellite networks are suitable for rural people who want to get broadband connections faster and reliable. In urban and rural areas, attracts fewer users dial-up packages which do not require very fast network and you want the lowest cost monthly cost for ISPs.

This technology is very similar to digital subscriber line (DSL), because they use a phone line. However, DSL is more preferable because it is much faster and can use the website and answer a call on the same telephone line. Unfortunately, dial-up does not work the same way, the caller will often find your line is busy. In terms of broadband connections, ADSL first. Offers the latest technologies that offer greater speed and accuracy, such as ADSL, SDSL, VDSL and HDSL.

    Dial up speed

The only way you can do this (short of upgrading to broadband) is to not have anything else running except your download. In other words, bootup, connect, download, wait. This will give you all the speed available to you.

I had been using dial-up internet and then switched over to broadband internat. Now since I have disconnected the broadband net, I want to use the dial-up modem. However, I am gtg a note that the device...

It's kind of difficult to tell what your exact problem may be, but note that the cable and connections for dial-up and broadband are different.

The dial-up cable is telephone wire connected to its port in an internal modem. Broadband is connected with thicker Ethernet cable connected to a network card.

The ports look similar, but the Ethernet port is a bit larger.

So, you need to connect to the right port/card with the right cable.

When you connect to dial-up, you should hear a beep-beep-beep sound from the modem.

    Hope this info helps.

    Setting up for broadband

First, you might want to check with Plusnet the login information and the type of the authentication they have. Secondly, setup your router, login to your router using a web browser. Type in the address bar and press enter key.Login using the default setting username 'admin' and password 'admin'.

Click on Home tab and then on WAN on the left side of the screen.Select PPPoE/PPPoA option.Under Connection Type select 'PPPoE LLC' in the drop-down menu.Enter username and your password. Please check with your provider if not sure again.
If you have connection with static IP address, you do not have to specify the IP settings on the router: the router will be getting the same IP from your ISP every time it connects.Click on Apply. To save the settings into the router's memory go to Tools > [System] > Save and Reboot.Give the router a minute or two to reboot and reconnect.

Lastly, Restart your computer and you should be able to access the Internet. You do not have to run any login client on any of your computers because your router logs to your ISP automatically.
