packard bell versa e400 power only comes on when connected by the mains adapter. it has a battery in it but will not power up from it.please help

Hi there.
Basically the batteries dead and needs to be replaced!!
This is a common problem right across the board with all laptops, in some cases its the powerboard on the motherboard itself which won't charge any battery new or old.
To troubleshoot it you will need another battery to test with it.
