I installed the winfax pro on pc A and send a fax to pc B.
Winfax pro configurations are the same on both pcs. PC B works well, it sends and receives fax wisely but there is a problem with pc A, which can send fax to pc B but can not receive faxes from other pcs.
the error message is "No Carrier".
I checked thoroughly all the configuration on both pcs.
but there still is the problem. could any one help plz?!!!

There is "No fix"
the fix is either you have it setup correctly, or you don't. has a forum specific for winfax so maybe you can post a message there to get an answer

NO CARRIER means your fax modem did not properly connect to the fax device. Either you dialed the wrong number, or you didn't setup WinFax to properly dial your area code, or prefix and click the Support Forums link

I have not used winfax pro, just a regular stand alone fax machine. maybe this page at the bottom might help. i recently got a kodak esp 9 all in one printer with the fax. well, im not a complete beginner, but im not advanced.

i keep getting unable to connect. no carrier.

ive worked in a few offices before and have never heard of this. that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. im still learning my new kodak (mainly bought it to save on the cost of ink and it prints awesome pictures and scans wonderfully compared to my regular old hp all in one printer. that thing scanned horrible, plus ink was about $50 each time. this kodak... the black is $10 and the color is $15.

i even called the place back that im trying to send my fax to. they said their fax machine has paper, no faxing issues, etc. the lady gave me an alternate fax number, still same error.

seen a graphic online once that said "when in doubt, google it." of course, no every page has the correct answer, but it alteast gets you closer. started googling it and this is what i found.

NoCarrier Detected
The no carrierdetected termination message is reported when a modem dials out, connects tosomething, but cannot detect a fax transmission carrier (fax modem, faxmachine, etc.) to pick up the fax transmission. This can be caused by one ofseveral factors, including:

  1. There is no fax hardware on the receiving endwhich could include the call being answered by an answering machine, a person, etc.
  2. The call was answered by an automatic recordingfrom the phone company, such as "Number not in service", "Numberdialed incorrectly", etc
  3. The fax machine or hardware could be turned offor not have power, and as such may not be answering incoming faxes

  1. Verify that the receiving end has there faxhardware hooked up, powered on, and ready to answer
  2. Double check that the number dialed is still inservice by either dialing it with a handset or contacting the individualdirectly
  3. Make sure that you have entered the numbercorrectly, just as if you had dialed the number on a handset. Be sure to dial a1 before long distance phone numbers (if required) and also make sure that youdial 9 to get an outside line (if required).

Have re-installed WinFax Pro 10.03. At every system start up WinFax install program appears even though it's installed. Also when I attempt to Insert file from Word 2003 in the fax, I get an error message...

Goto "Start" in windows select "RUN" type in "MSCONFIG" press ENTER, Select "STARTUP" tab uncheck the winfax then select apply then OK. Now restart your PC, u should not get this problem now.

How I get the incoming faxes to stay in the computer(not printer)

Unplug your All-In-One Fax printer if it is connected in the same line as WinFax, or disconnect the telephone line. Otherwise, your All-In-One is receiving the fax , not WinFax.

I can't send to certain fax machines with WinFax Pro

Yes, some modems might have problems with Service Pack 3. You might need to update the Windows modem drivers.

Alternatively, there might be problems with the settings in WinFax for your specific modem.

You'll need to post more information on the fax modem you are using.

This problem is caused by the new security features that are added by SP2and above(for winXP). To prevent the error message and enable Fax Sharing, either update WinFax to version 10.04, or manually reconfigure the Windows XP security settings to permit Fax Sharing to work.

How to create "Message Stores" in Winfax Pro 10

To create the message store folder: 1. Close WinFax and the WinFax Controller. 2. If you are running Windows NT, 2000, or XP, stop the WinFax service. If you don't know how to do this, read the document How to start or stop a service in Windows. 3. Using Windows Explorer, locate and then double-click the Symantec WinFax Pro folder. 4. Click File. 5. Point to New, and then click Folder. 6. Give the new folder a name (My Faxes, for example) and press Enter. 7. Close Windows Explorer.
