My router shows connected but no internet access.

Please try connecting the DSL / Cable modem directly to your computer and check if the network works fine, it works fine then power down the wire router and then restart it again and check.

Re4place your Wireless Access code as set up with router control program. Often wireless access is denied when mistakes are made with this pass code. Just replace whatever code you have with another (simpler?) code or even going to "None" for Security. To try and establish comm through the router, if it succeeds with no security try again with perhaps WPA-[TKIP] coding.

My wnr834b router is about 2 1/2 years old. Suddenly I can't connect wirelessly--my notebook doesn't detect a wireless network--my desk PC is wired to the router and works fine. My notebook works fine...

So the desktop is working with the wired connection. That means the wired part of the router is working . you will need to check the wireless settings of the router. For this you will need to access the router set up page. When you try to connect to the wireless network , Do you get any message ? Or you are not able to see any wireless network ? The message will be important to identify the problem. First try to connect to the wireless network on the laptop. Try to change the wireless channel on the router. That may help you. I hope the following link will help you Click Here for more info

Changed from AT&T to a cable company for DSL. Trying to set up

You need to "fool" your cable box into thinking that the wireless router is the computer. This just means that the modem is locking into the first ip address it can get... it tends to block out all others. Here's how to remedy and allow everything to get access...

1 Shut off computers, routers, everything.
2. Turn on your wireless router FIRST... leave everything else off until you see it's completely booted.
3. Then with the cable connected to the modem/cable box and the router, turn on the cable box/modem and let it cycle up. This should allow the cable modem to "find" the wifi ip address as the main ip.
After that, turn on any other routers, and the computers...
This should allow you access to the net by any of your computers because the wifi router should give all the other comptuers and routers on the system inddividual ip addresses and all should be well...
Give it a try and let me know!

My laptop shows full signal but refuses to connect to the router. The wireless phone rang two days ago and knocked me offline on wireless. Can someone please help? Nobody else's wireless device works...

It sounds like the wireless setup in the router may have gotten corrupted. From the wired PC, using a browser type to access the router. It will ask you for a password. The default is to leave it blank. If you've set one, you'll need to give it the one you set. That'll get you into the router. Check the wireless setup. Everything else should be ok, or you wouldn't be able to access the internet from your wired PC.

If you can't find anything wrong, you can try rebooting the router and the modem. Shut both down as well as your wired PC. Wait 30 seconds. Boot the modem, the router and the PC at 30 second intervals.

1 of the 2 computers cant get online

Pleaase check if the PC connects when plugged directly to the DSL or cable connection whatever you have without the router in between. That would ensure the functionality of the ethernet card on the other pc.
