My acer aspire one hangs when i set to standby

You don't specify but it seems like you are using Windows. This problem can be caused because you didn't set up an Account name. You can add one user, give yourself full admin rights, and do NOT require a password.

Default in Windows from standby is to log in as user...it goes wonky if no user is set. It can't find the user and does not know what to do, you have to reboot to get out of it, all stuff saved is lost.

BTW When you are at the Standby screen, hold down SHIFT key and it will change to Hibernate, if that option is available. Hibernate saves all your stuff to the hard drive and powers down..much better for batteries than Standby
