maybe you're not going to the start and turning it off. when you save everything else and quit turn it off right on the menu or further back. I think this will not answer the question so if no work sorry.

No, sounds like your internet connection or DVD drive. Mostlikely the DVD drive. Check you disk too.

SOURCE: My Playstation 2 memory card has corrupted data.

well, if it only does this error for one game then maybe the problem is in the game itself? Is the CD a real one? or is it copied with a golden back?
if it is copied then such things can definitely happen.

It keeps telling me a file is corrupted. ive restarted & everything but every time i turn back on the message pops up. Do u know what i can do?

If you get a corrupted file, there really is not anything you can do. Corrupted files are generally caused by somehow forcing a process to stop while it's writing to a file, and that file becomes corrupted. For example, if I am playing a game and I try to save, but then get bored of waiting and turn off the console while it's still saving, the file will become corrupted and unusable.

Don't fall for online scams of tools trying to recover corrupted files, there is really no way to save a file that's been corrupted. You should just delete the file and move on. If it's DLC you can redownload it, if it's a game save you can work your way back.

Hi, ive got a nintendo d.s , with Proffessor layton and the curious village, it has previous saves on it , its going to be a present, so do i start the game and wipe the completed saves, so theyre all set...

As you've noticed, the game doesn't offer a way to delete the saves and the recommended method is to simply start a new game and overwrite the existing saves

Saying that, the saves can be deleted by purposely corrupting them (by, say, turning off the DS as it saves), but this has a small element of risk (as someone once found out by accident) and there's a chance you may end up with a partially corrupted save that can neither be loaded from or saved to

I save the file and i turn the game and it doesnt come back saved

The Silver/Gold/Crystal generation Pokemon games all had cartridges that contained a built-in battery that runs the internal clock, so that your game knows whether its day or night, Monday or Wednesday, etc. Anyway, I assume your battery has run out, and until replaced, the game will not save successfully.

This site give instructions on how to replace the battery: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-replace-the-battery-in-a-pokemon-goldsilve/

Or you could just buy the game again, I would guess they are about $10 these days.
Great game by the way.

Hope that helps.

I saved one file twice and erased my first file by mistake.

I'm sorry to say, but your diary1 data is gone for good.

The way a save file works is it takes a data picture of that moment in the game, so everything you have done is remembered. However, another part of the saving process is it erases the data that was being stored there before, because when you tell it to save, you are telling it, even if by accident, that that old data is obsolete and you no longer need it, you need this data here now that you are giving it.

And unfortunately, games aren't like computers with recycling bins that you can go into and retrieve something you accidentally deleted. There is only so much memory in a game, so it can't waste space with something you told it to get rid of.

I feel your pain, I've done the same thing in my Harvest Moon game on the GBA. I've also deleted my Pokemon Colloseum file by accident that had my level 98 Blaziken on it. All you can do is start over.
