Question about HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-In-One Printer
I purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro L7680 (Alli n One) about two weeks ago.
I have managed (first time) to load the Software (SW) package to my Works Laptop (a Toshiba M3) this all seems to be OK, suggesting that there is nothing wrong with the Printer or CD provided.
My issue is that when I tried to load to my Decktop PC (a Dell Pentium 4)
at the first attempt, I managed to connect to a 'Dead' USB port (my error).
My PC didn't configure with the new devise. Having switched USB ports, I managed to finish the SW upload BUT the printer was not configured correctly. Plug & Play did seem to recognise the device i.e. I got the usual
comment bubbles by the clock. I therefore, unistalled the SW, and tried
again. Since this point, the CD usually does not load beyond 96% (it will go to 100% in the end but this seems to be a timeout) as a result, my Printer now works BUT the icon 'HP Digital Imaging Monitor' will not load
stating that 'No HP device is found'. I can load an image via the Windows
'Scanner & Camera wizard' BUT not via the HP SW.
I have upgraded my USB cable $50 worth, unistalled and reinstalled my
USB drivers, all ports are working fine.
Heaven only knows how many times I have unistalled & reinstalled via HP Support instructions but still no joy. I suspect that the Registry is the problem BUT not too sure. I must be full of duplicated entries although I do run a Reg Cleaner to clear some of the rubbish. In the end, I'm not too sure
what to remove in the registry (and I do copy to my Desktop before removing anything) can you advise. The problem seems to relate to the Scanner but it does work
Any ideas ?
Several times, I've had issues installing USB devices on Dells. The problem seems to involve the fact that Dell has trouble recognizing the ports as USB2. It'll recognize devices, but not all devices, and not all devices will work properly.
I know this doesn't exactly solve your problem, but I thought this tid-bit might bring you a little closer to a solution.
