SOURCE: Tally 2265 paper jam

I am not familiar with this particular printer, but dot matrix printers are not complicated. Being that it is old, it very well be that a sensor is dirty or bad. There probably is only one or two of them. I suggest you carefully take the cover off, and expose the platen roller. If it is removed easily, take it out and clean it with dish detergent and water. Better yet, use WD40, because it will revitalize the roller a bit. be sure to use the dish detergent to get the WD40 film off. Now, look for any small switches in the paper path. Something may even be holding it down. The switch part may only be an actuator, and you may have to follow the arm to the photo interrupt switch. Clean in between the posts of its an interrupt switch. If you can't find anything jumping out at you, its probably time for a new printer.

My Lexmark 4600 printer has a paper jam. do not know how to unjam it.

Hi,

How to clear and avoid paper jams
Follow these instructions to remove and/or avoid paper jams and misfeeds in your Lexmark X3500, X4500, X4600 & X4800 Series All-In-One.

Remove the paper manually

Paper or specialty media misfeeds
These are possible solutions if paper or specialty media misfeeds or skews, or if multiple sheets feed or stick together.
Try one or more of the following:
Check paper condition

  • Use only new, unwrinkled paper.

Check paper loading

  • Load a smaller amount of paper into the printer.

  • Load paper with the print side facing you. (If you are not sure which side is the printable side, see the instructions that came with the paper.)

Remove each page as it is printed

  • Remove each page as it exits, and let it dry completely before stacking.

Adjust the paper guides

  • When using media less than 8.5 inches wide

  • To rest against the edges of the paper or media, making sure it does not buckle

Printer does not feed paper, envelopes, or specialty media
These are possible solutions. Try one or more of the following:
Check for paper jams

  • Check for and clear any paper jams. For more information, see "Paper jam in the printer" and "Paper jam in the paper support" above.

Check media loading

  • Verify that the specialty media is loaded correctly.

  • Try loading one page, envelope, or sheet of specialty media at a time.

Check printer default and pause settings

  1. Click:
    • In Windows XP (default Start menu): Start pattlnk_10282008_1829-right-arrow.gif Printers and Faxes.

I have a Sharp Al-2040cs when I turn it on the misfeed indicator is blinking. I checked it there no misfeed paper or piece of paper inside. How can I fix this problem?

The MISFEED Indicator blinks when a MISFEED has occurred. Remove the misfed paper referring to the the description of MISFEED REMOVAL beginning on page 65 of the pdf Manual at:

http://files.sharpusa.com/Downloads/ForHome/HomeOffice/PrintersFaxMachines/Manuals/cop_man_AL2030_AL2040CS.pdf

When the MISFEED Indicator is blinking you should look closer at the paper feed area (see page 66 of the PDF). You may need to remove the paper tray to find any remnants of paper. If after closing the side cover the light does not stop blinking you will need to follow through as per the illustrated instructions.

Remember after removing jammed paper, you need to press the clear key to clear the MISFEED error.

If after doing all this the error signal has not cleared, power down the printer; unplug from the power supply; let rest 5 - 10 minutes; plug back i to power supply; turn printer on and see if this resolves issue.

Trust this is helpful. Please vote. :)

Printer is coming up with id mismatch after putting new toner cartridge in goes away when old one is put back in?

The toner for the 9035 has a 'chip' to identify the toner is correct for the 9035, ie the toner is the correct manufacturer and model.
If you are getting the "ID Mismatch" error you either;
  1. Have a faulty chip on the new toner cartridge, I guess the best option would be to go back to the supplier.
  2. The toner cartridge is a copy / refill etc and has the wrong chip fitted, again going back to the supplier would be the best option.
  3. Locate the contact for the chip on the new toner cartridge and ensure these are clean from any toner dust etc which may prevent incorrect contact with the printer.

Printer is coming up with a fuser failure

The fuser is not reading its temperature correctly.  Unfortunately, you will need to buy another one. The maintenance kit is PN 086515

The fuser is sold alone as 604K19433 (same as XEROX 45000)

Tally 2240/9 printer returns to contiunous after I reswet to single paper

This is a common problem with the tally printer line in that model. You have to go into the configuration and set the Single sheet as the default paper style. When you make this selection from the selection menu it will go back to default after a period of time or anytime there is a jam or power off condition to include power saver. Check the user manual for the configuration access to the default settings and set single sheet feed as the default. That will solve the problem.
