Re: boot problem

What comes up on your screen? Any boot up messages?
Check and make sure you do not have any CD-ROMS or USB or memory cards in your Presario 2100U when booting up. The system may be "stuck" because it doesn't know how do deal with those.

My little sisters dell inspiron mini just got the Unmountable boot volume message. I've looked online but most of the options require a cd which is of course not helpful when the mini doesn't have...

The best option is, look around for external cd-rom with usb connection, and reformat the laptop. You need to go into the bios and change the boot order to make your usb cd-rom to first in the boot list. Once the usb cd-rom is plugged into used port, with operation system cd in it, on your F2..go into the bios, to the boot order make your usb cd-rom on top boot list,,then save changes to exit the bios. Once again the system reboots..with message PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD ROM.. so just simple steps to follow..its not going to be expensive..good luck

Where can i get a Toshibia L300 satelite Windows Vista Rebooting Disk to reset the laptop? as i cannot find the one that came in the package with the laptop.

Hi there,
Toshiba usually doesn't include the recovery as you would have to create one for yourself.
If you're having trouble finding it and you cannot boot the computer anymore my suggestion would be to contact toshiba and order a recovery disk. (it's part of their business and it sucks bigtime).
You can also create a windows installer using a USB you can youtube how to do it for video instructions.
If you can still boot from the computer go to control panel and that is where the program to create the recovery disks is.
Hope this helps!

I cant get the system to boot in any of the safe modes, widows will not boot or last known that worked will not boot. Is there something I could do in the setup utility to get it to boot in just safe mode...

If you are not concerned with your existing data, you can download tools from the HDD manufacturer that will allow you to wipe the drive quickly and easily.
If you are concerned with your data, you can attempt to use the F8 key during boot process to use advanced boot options within the Windows Recovery Environment (RE). If you cannot get the system to boot in this manner, try using your recovery media to boot the PC. This may require changing the boot order within your notebook's BIOS. A search engine should provide further assistance in performing this change and allowing you to use recovery media.
Should this fail, another alternative is to download a disc image of the Ubuntu Linux operating system and burn the image to a recordable disc or flash drive. Using the same steps you used for changing the boot order, change it to the media you've transferred the Ubuntu image to, and ensure it's inserted when starting the notebook.
Ubuntu should provide you a number of options to recover data, using the "Live CD" environment on the disc or the "Recover an OS in Trouble" option (the latter option may be paraphrased, depending on the version of OS you've placed on this media).

My hp 2100 presario laptop in not booting

Startup problems
If the notebook doesn’t respond when you turn it on
• Connect the AC adapter.
• Reset the notebook by inserting the tip of a paper clip into the reset button on the
bottom of the notebook. Then press the power button to turn it on.
• If the notebook still doesn’t respond, remove the battery and AC adapter, remove
any PC cards, and undock the notebook if docked. Then plug in the AC adapter
again, and reset the notebook using the reset button.
If the notebook won’t boot from battery power
• Make sure the battery is properly inserted and fully charged. Check the battery
charge by removing it and pressing the pad on the side of the battery. The lights
show the charge level.
• If available, try another battery.
If the notebook won’t boot from the floppy disk drive
• Make sure the floppy disk drive is selected as the boot device.
• If you’re using a USB floppy drive, use the BIOS Setup utility to make sure
Legacy USB Support is enabled. If your notebook also has a built-in floppy
drive, use the BIOS Setup utility Boot menu to make sure the USB floppy drive
is the first device under Removable Drive.
If the notebook stops responding after booting
Check whether you are connected to a TCP/IP network with no DHCP server. This
can cause a long delay at startup because DHCP is enabled. Contact your network
administrator to determine the proper TCP/IP configuration

Press F2 when you start it to enter BIOS to check your BOOT ORDER to make sure your HD is listed first on the list.
If it is not listed remove it and reinsert it and then try again.. GREAT LUCK!! Please Rate Me, K? Thanks- Lucky4lynn2

Aspire 5100 how do i run recovery cd's. notebook won't boot up

hi LWeller1l what you computer is trying to do is boot from a network and it's not picking one up so it gives you an error message, to check if it's just this....... go into your bios and check the boot order it should have or dvd/rom drive as first boot option then the .........hd meaning harddisk then the pxe boot, if they in this in this order and the pxe option is not above the harddisk in the order you may have harddisk problem. when the computer boots it uses this order to start, so in this order it checks the cd/rom or dvd/rom for a bootable disk, if none is in there it then tries to boot off the harddisk, if this fails then look to the pxe boot option which is network boot option off a server,........another thing is you if you don't have server you can disable the pxe boot option completly in if they are in this order in the bios then you may have to re-install the operating system or the disk may be corrupted or failed.

Hi, I need to Format my Presario V2000 notebook but i'm not sure how to perform this action, can anyone please be able to help me ? Thanks Dan

Hi Dan,
O.k. You will need to use the recovery or operating system disc. At start up you will ned to boot from the CD, do this by either entering the boot menu and selecting the CD drive, or entering the bios/set up and changing the boot order to where the CD drive boots before the hard drive. Both of these actions are done at start up, there is an initial screen that prompts you to press a key in order to enter the boot menu or bios/set up. Once you have booted from the CD, you will follow the steps and it will guide you through the process.
