Re: dell 1505inspiron/ e1505 sound

If the above solution does not work for some, try reinstalling XP, and then install the drivers in the following order this worked fine for me after working for 2 days to get the sound back:
1) Notebook System Software
2) Chipset Drivers
3) Sound drivers
The order is what is important.
The drivers are available at the Dell Support site.

Thank you so much!!!!!!! You saved me $50 (if not more) and the possibility of the same problem not being corrected. I can't even begin to tell you how many sites I've been on trying to correct this. 2 seconds with your solution, and it's DONE!!!!!!!!!!! If I could, I'd take you out to dinner with the $50. :)

Visit, click on drivers and downloads, and then click on the service tag option.... enter the service tag from the bottom side of the laptop... it will then display the list of drivers for that laptop. You will see a list of hardware, each section with a plus symbol to the left of it. Click that to open that section and get the drivers you need. Be sure to read what's there, as some of the downloads aren't drivers. You should be able to find it easily.

Download and install the audio drivers and any other ones that you need.... let me know if that solves it for you. Make sure they are for your laptop model and operating system.

Check in the windows control panel and open the SYSTEM icon. In the pop up window, click the Hardware tab and then click on the device manager but. Any items that need a driver installed will be listed with a yellow ? on it.

I've a Dell Inspiron 1505 that runs well except it locks up during some videos. The display cracks up and the sound freezes, mouse freezes. Any advice? Is this the video/graphics card? I paid a shop...

if the freezing only happens when playing videos then this is not hard drive issues. try this one, download the latest video driver for you video then remove the old one then install the new video card driver which you just download. if fails try to check and consider the ram issue.

Cd rom problem

Try to play different cds from your dvd rom drive.
If all of them does play then i suspected the cd that you had inserted to play is faulty.

If all of the cds doesn't work, re-install your dvd rom driver. If it doesn't still read any cds then your dvd rom drive is faulty.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

Won't load windows

Try pressing F8 on startup to start the computer in safe mode.

If it does not restart in safe mode, then you need to reinstall Windows using the recovery CD or a Windows setup disk.

If you do not format the hard drive , and do a windows upgrade setup on top of same system folder, you will preserve your data.

Dell Inspiron E1505 no sound in web browser

I must tell you that this is not an issue with the drivers or the web browser or the computer. This could be possible that volume button on the video while on web browser is mute or lowered....

Please check.....

However you can try to watch the same video online on other computer, just to isolate the issue....

Dell Inspiron E1505 Audio

Hi artifax,

I have a suggestion/solution for this that I need you to try. Here it is:

first, go to add or remove programs, look for Creative/SoundBlaster and Sigmatels listed there and uninstall every one of them. Then, go to Device manager and uninstall Creative/Soundblaster/Sigmatel under sound and game controllers. reboot the system.

now download and run this,
E1505/6400 BIOS

then download and install this,
Sigmatel Audio Driver

Do not install any Creative first, then let me know if this works.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

spec and review here on e1505

I can watch movies both online and 'offline'. DVDs, mpeg, avi, and wmv format and more.

I think you have some problems with your media player or codec.

Are you using xp or vista?
