My camera won't allow me to take any pictures and keeps saying "card not intialized." The card is in right, what else can I do?

There seem to be loads of these problems posted and most of the solutions offered seem to suggest buying another card. I've just had an identical problem with the Fuji 6800. This isn't the first time it happened. Last time, I popped the card into a camera of the same make and model belonging to a friend and hey presto, no further trouble! Hope that this helps. My crash occurred (about twenty minutes ago) when I formatted the card via my PC. Is this a warning? Will your card be accepted into any other cameras? Might be worth a try formatting it in any camera that will accept it. Mostly inspired (uninspired?) guesswork I'm afraid, but I know where you're comingfrom. Good luck!. What's your problem? While trying to take a picture it keeps coming up with write projects and won't allow me to take the picture

I assume it's actually saying "write protect" and not "write project".

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

It keeps saying write projects

If it's actually saying "write protect" then look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My canon poweshot SD790 IS will not connecto to my macbook pro. i have tried so many times to connect my camera to my mac, but it does not work at all. It says failed to intialize program when I try to...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

How can I intialize my card its saying card not intialized

You need to format the card in the camera. This will erase it so download any pics first using a card reader if necessary.

Got a card intializing msg!!!

The S7000 has always been known to have some problems with regular CompactFlash cards, with both power drains and limitations reported (the S7000 seems unable to handle CompactFlash cards above 2GB, as it doesn't support FAT32). I imagine it's possible that there are other potential problems associated with this.

It's usually recommended that, instead of using CompactFlash cards, you use either xD-Picture Cards or IBM/Hitachi Microdrives, which are both fully compatible with the S7000.
