Cannot get rid of error message: Paper Jam, Front, Rear

I cannot get rid of the error message telling me there is a paper jam, front and rear. There is absolutely no paper caught in the front or rear of this machine. I have checked with a flashlight at least ten times. This printer is three months old and is currently unusable.

SOURCE: paper jam message

Richie, I ve had the same message and was wondering why: You have to open the printer. You will find rest of paper near the left side gear wheels(where powercord is pluged in) which cant be seen from outside. Another point is that the encoder strip (foil paralell to printhead belt) might be out of position. The jammed paper hamight had pushed the encoder out of position. the encoder strip has to be fixed upon the printhead.

SOURCE: I cannot get the BACK COVER OPEN message to GO

There is a little cover there that has a sensor flag on it. It is most likely in a jammed position. If you are able to carefully take the cover out, you can bend it slightly, readjust the sensor flag, and reinstall it.

Thanks

FS-3900DN rear unit paper jam

Hello, Power down the unit.Unplug power from wall. Power back up, if the error still happens, there is a small piece of paper somewhere, take toner out and look, or pull down back cover and look in there.

Paper jam massage is comming but not paper inside the printer

OK, if the paper jam message is coming on, but you don't see any paper inside the printer when opened up, then there may be a small amount of paper somewhere inside of the printer causing the error to trip.

Be sure to open up 'all' of the possible ways that the printer can be opened in order to find the jammed paper. Open up the rear and front of the printer and search for the paper jam. Not all jams occur in the paper feed area.

Good luck on this repair.

I had the Bro 8840D repaired following a paper jam. I am unable to get it to pull paper through. Says paper jam, but no jam exists. The tech repair shop said a switch had been flipped when the first jam...

okay, try this...clear the paper jam message and try to make a copy using the manual bypass (MP tray) located on front of machine. if copy comes through okay, then chances are you have a problem in main cassette area. pull cassette out, and make sure the rear stop inside cassette is not pushed too tightly against rear of paper stack. should leave about 1/8" gap. if thats okay, then sounds like you may need your paper pickup roller replaced. sounds like your repair shop just fixed the error, not the cause of the error.

Paper jam

Use mirror and flashlight to look down paper feeder from the rear, gently pull paper toward the rear. An index card can be fed from the front to the rear to push paper out by turning the gears you see on the left side inside the front cover. Be careful not to force anything.

Or i cut and paste text, but you should view pictures. If you cannot get to it from link. Try typing "Paper jams alternating between front and back door" It should be first link from HP about a 3550.

HP Color LaserJet 3500, 3550, and 3700 Series Printers - Paper Jams Alternating Between Front and Back Door Issue Description Customers may see paper jams error messages with no paper seen in the paper path. The message will alternate between check the front door and the back door. Workaround The release lever engagement tabs on the rear door can be bumped into the in-correct position. The purpose for this tab is to re-engage the fuser release levers as the rear door is closed. When one or both of these are left in the in-correct position the printer goes into a cycle of alternating between a "Jam in the Front Door" message and "Jam in the Rear Door" message. There is no paper present in the paper path when this happens. When a customer gets the "Jam in the Front Door" message and opens the front door, no paper is found. After the customer closes the front door, they get the "Jam in the Rear Door" message. When they open the rear door, find not paper (even pull out the fuser), and close the rear door, they get the "Jam in the Front Door" message. This cycle will continue

Placing both engagement tabs in the "Correct" position solves the problem and allows the print job to continue.for as long as the customer is willing to keep checking.
