Toshiba Satellite A215-S7437 will not boot up...

When the power button is pushed, the system attempts to come on --- the BIOS screen flashes on, I see at the bottom of the screen the "F2" for System Utilities command and also the "F12" for the Boot Menu command. In the bottom middle is a "purple/lilac" progress bar that does fill completely up, and on the bottom right-side of the screen is the "AMD" Turion 64 x2 symbol...{all of this lasts close to 4 or 5 seconds from the time the Power Button is pushed on...}. From here, the screen goes BLACK with a "blinking" cursor in the top left-hand corner...the "ONLY" noise I hear coming from the laptop is a"clicking" noise from the Bottom, Front, Right corner under the keypad --- in the location of the HDD...does this mean my Hard Drive is bad/shot?
