The presser foot lift lever on many newer janome sewing machines will wear out with use. It can easily be replaced by a sewing machine repair shop or Janome dealer. Or you can look online for a "presser foot lifter" or "presser foot lift lever" making sure to find the correct one for your machine.

Tighten the pressure foot

We have a sewing machine that was manufactured by Janome. It is a New Home Deluxe Model. It has very little travel on the pressure foot itself versus other sewing machines. I have learned just by using this machine.... If you need to get the foot up high...all you have to do is reach through and grab the pressure foot and while picking it up(not the lever but the foot itself) turn it clockwise just a touch and it will stay up plenty far enough to get larger or thicker material under it to sew. I hope this helps. Thanks and remember "Be Easy!" Neighborsboy

The pressure foot handle is loose and my foot won't go down what's wrong

Grasp the presser foot bar and pull it down. It is likely that the loose bar has jumped off of the cam on the lever. you'll need to figure out how to get in there and tighten it or replace a broken lever.

Good luck.

Bernina 630 pressure foot won't stay up. What do I do?

Make certain that the foot is firmly attached to the bar. If that is the problem (it won't stay in place on the bar) you may need a new or different foot.
