Gurgling noise I have Enfield Silver Plus (65 cc) of 1985 model and we have it since we bought from the showroom. It is a three gear hand shift bike. It has been running very well all these days. We had also tuned the Carburetor and it started giving the mileage from 45 to 50 kmpl. The engine had been running smooth like butter with speed of 40 kmph. The speedometer has clocked more than 30000 kms. Yesterday, I went for a long drive and almost reached 15 Kms, then I started hearing some kind of weird knocking sound from the engine and there was a thick white smoke from the silencer, which, I never heard this kind of sound before and never saw such a thick smoke. However, I stopped and examined the spark plug, but I found its head to be normal (i.e without any black soot). However, the gasket (i.e the spark plug thread) and the inner lining of the plug was oil filled. I cleaned the plug and re-inserted, then also, the problem continued and the bike didn't start. Also, I observed, smoke coming out from the engine head (i.e from the hole where we insert spark plug). I will be grateful, if you could provide me the cause and solution. Thanks & Regards, Krishna Kolhapuri

No, the mechanic said it was the bearings that got broken.

Thanks for your suggestions. Now my bike is running fine. The rear wheel assembly is shaking a bit sideways when I put my bike on Center stand with bike started and running on top gear.

SOURCE: Misfires

The sound and the high fuel consumption are all related. there are many things that might be wrong. it could be the fuel quality the carburettor air filter spark plug or even an elecrtical problem. but since you had the bike serviced but you are still experiencing problems i would try cleaning the spark plug. and when you fit the sparklug back, check wheter the wire going to the sparkplug is in perfect order. then put the bike in neutral, put in on the main stand, start it and check the big wire going to the sparkplug. listen if you can detect any noise in that area. if you hear a tik - tik sound, then there is a elecrtical leak. you should be able to repair that by yourself if not a normal service station would do. however if thats not the problem, then you should bring the bike to another service station,,,

SOURCE: pulsar's smoothness changes after few kms

ok so its a brand new bike.. though the engine comes with proper boring nowdays but still you shold maintain low speeds  initially as  they are bits which take time to settle. did you ever meet an accident?? this may be a handling problem too..,may be the bike is disbalanced. get it checked in the service centre only.. Hope it works..:))

My Royal Enfield Electra 2009 Classic, Engine Doesn't Stop Even After Turning the Switch/Ignition Off. If I try to stop using the gear then also it keeps going (Ignition Turned Off). After it stop

have a bike electrician check it out
I suspect that there is problem relay/regulator in the charging circuit that is allowing the alternator/generator to keep supplying power to the ignition outside the ignition switch circuit
could be a shorted wire
The dead batteries indicates this by discharging through the same fault.

I have a 1998 ktm 65 sx I just bought it when we test rode it it ran good but we only took it to 3 rd gear then when rode it after getting it home the first time it went into 5th gear it got stuck there...

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your inquiry.
The first thing we need to do is eliminate the possibility that the shift lever is not interfering with anything limiting it's travel into the top three gear positions. It's possible that the lever is bent or has been incorrectly re-installed on the wrong spline position.
That being said, we more than likely have a problem with a bent shifting fork, a pall, or a shift rail, maybe even a broken gear.. There is also a good possibility the engine has been previously disassembled and not had parts replaced and the engine did not get re-assembled correctly. You will have to remove the engine and split the case to inspect the shafts, shifting forks, spacers, and shifting drum to correct the problem. This link will take you to the complete shop repair manual for this bike. Check the section 4 beginning on page 36-37.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/44875530/20355873-1998-03-KTM-60-65SX-Service-Manual
You may have to make some holding parts and/or rent some pullers but it's not to bad of a project. A good KTM Shop can always fix the problem but it's expensive. This is a great little bike. I'm sorry it's having problems.
Thanks again for contacting FixYa.

Model #17-1381. We just bought our bike at Canadian Tire. The chain is very loud. We tried to change gears but it clicks and then goes back to being loud again and also clicks periodically.

Model numbers are irrelevant as all bike makers use commonly available components manufactured by a small handful of companies.

This problem is why bikes should be purchased at real Bicycle Shops - setup is right and there is usually a follow-up after break-in.

You get to learn how to DIY because you HAVE to.

Key to all of this is OBSERVATION. Noises need to be localized. Something is rubbing somewhere.

Use a search engine for "how to shift a bicycle", "bicycle chain makes noise" and any other questions you might think of and you will find many videos.

How do I know if my motor is locked up? When I go to start it it whines and sounds like nothing is turning, however the tachometer reads 5000 rpm.

If you want to know if your motor is locked up. Hand shift the bike into third or fourth gear and see if you can turn it over by spinning the rear wheel by hand or rocking the bike forward and backward. If the starter motor is spinning but the motor is not , and the motor is not frozen, then you have a bad one way clutch and starter gear in side the motor. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1985-yamaha-xj700xnc-maxim-x/o/m10113#sch514113

Noise near gearbox while running and shifting the gearsin roysl enfield 350cc

The reason could be that the gear teeth have worn out &/or the chain & sprocket are worn out. Both of them depend on the condition of the clutch plates and the oil level in the gearbox.

This problem is common in all Enfield Bullet 350 cc unless maintained every 6 months or so since two levers operate the gears(up & down). The chain sprocket being the main culprit. I have observed this by seeing the Army uses only Bullets & my Dad being an Officer I got plenty opportunity in driving them....................................sodeep

False neutral

There is pretty much a false neutral between every gear on an Enfield. You need to ease the gear up or down and do it by feel more than a hard up or down movement
