Try placing the filter in again. Also unplug the unit an wait a few seconds to reset. Plug it back in. I am guessing you got wrong filter or it is not placed in correctly.
most starting problems with diesels can be sourced to
low fuel pressures( pressure draining off over time), air in the system, glo-plugs not working and slow cranking speeds
run the fault codes first to check for possible electronic and sensor faults
take it to an accredited diesel shop and have the fuel system and fuel pressure checked
A suggestion would be to check your fuel filter to make sure it is not stopped up. Your fuse to the fuel pump may also need to be checked. Chevys are notorius for bad fuel pumps.
Hi James,
Did truck die on you while driving or just not start one day? It is very likely you need a new fuel pump. AIRTEX Part # E2363M, but double check. Checking bad pump requires OBD II scanner to read codes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu2YJQ1xOss Changing fuel pump is not hard, but takes a set of skills, time & care is also required. 2.3L is fuel injected which means it is in your fuel tank.
(If you had a carburetor the pump would be at front of engine & easier)
You will need a trusty mechanic or some good friends..New pump is about $135 from Rockauto slightly more from O'Reilly etc.. Dealer will double that price, local mechanic will charge $150-180 plus hourly labor.
Something else in addition to air filter, that you can do yourself is change fuel filter & plugs. Get better mileage to help pay for new pump. Fuel filter is about $30 for good one. The fuel filters are located in nearly same location on all Rangers regardless of engine & year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5taAFsAbx0U
Changing spark plugs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UujrhSmPho
If it is firing, but doesn't quite want to go also be sure you have spark.
Remove plug wire number one and carefully put a nail into spark plug cap, rest it on the exhaust manifold while you watch have someone turn the engine over for a brief moment to be sure you see spark. DO NOT TOUCH while turning over or you can get a nasty shock.
Check fuses as well. PEACE
You can use any standard computer power cord for this purifier. If the damage is closer to the plug side of the cord, you could cut the plug end off and put on a new replacement plug. You should be able to find a replacement cord or plug at a hardware store. Hope this helps you.
This looks like a control board error. It needs to come in for repair. be careful not to turn it on, the RCI cell ( the blue light in the back) will stop working if it is switched off and on fast.
Call the company 1-800-989-2299 and get an RMA number. If you are under three years, you are still under warranty.
Same problem here. Opened it but everythng seemed intact. Red light flashes momentarily during initial plug in. Has power, oscillates but no fan rotation.
