SOURCE: replace pullcord on troy built mower

Replacing the rope is not difficult but tricky. I believe that your model has a fuel tank on top of starter cover, empty fuel and remove tank to expose starter cover. Remove the starter cover and place it on your workbench with the plastic rewind spool visible and remove the old rope noting how it was tied. The rope is sold in various sizes from # 3 to # 6.5. Most mowers use a #4.5, with length of about 6 to 7 feet. You may not need this much but more is better. Now practice inserting the rope thru the hole where it comes out of the cover into the hole where it ties on the spool. Once you can do this you are ready to wind. The spool /spring winds when you pull the rope, that why it recoils when you let go of the rope. With that in mind, turn (wind) the spool in the same direction that it turns when you pull the rope. It should be getting tighter as you turn. Keep winding in the direction that it turns when you pull the rope untill it will not go anymore. It should be very tight. Now unwind one complete turn and align the hole of the spool to the hole in the housing and hold it there while you insert the rope from outside hole into the spool and tie knot. After the knot is tied slowly let rope rewind into the spool untill it stops on its own. You are done. You should have plenty of extra rope left to extend out to the handlebar. Enjoy

SOURCE: oil drain plug

Drain plug is not necessary. Remove the dipstick and tip the mower to the side the dipstick is on and use the dipstick tube as a drain.

SOURCE: troy bilt mower won't stay running to cut lawn

You may want to check the gas cap to see if it clogged with dirt. If the gas cap is clear, you more than likely have a carburetor problem. If you need tips on carb. cleaning, feel free to ask.

SOURCE: my troy built 210 6.75 hp mower self propelled mow...

remove the front black plastic plate that is stamped self propelled and replace the wheel drive belt that attaches the engine pulley (above blade) to the transmission pulley (found under the cover). When you buy the belts, pick up two or three as I seem to go through a couple per season. Hopes this helps

SOURCE: I have a Troy Bilt 675 lawn mower, won't start.

is the gas in the tank old? if so, try to drain it and put fresh gas in. Pull the spark plug to make sure it is not fouled and replace it or put in a new one. Check to make sure that you do not have the mixture or choke set to run too rich or too lean. If you are at an altitude above 2,500 feet you need to run more lean to compensate.

50IN TROY-BILT MUSTANG RZT ZERO TURN MOWER. I want to bypass the seat pressure switch?

Very dangerous unless you live in the middle of nowhere, have no children or pets. Just join the wires together, it is a simple switch. Easy to buy a new one.

Where is the voltage regulator located

The voltage regulator is located on the engine itself. Before blaming the voltage regulator you need to make sure that there is no drain on the battery while it is sitting and also the battery is a good one. Batteries can develop problems that will cause them to drain themselves over time. Also using a DVM (digital volt meter) check to see if there is a charge voltage of 12.5 vdc up to about 14.5 vdc. If this is present then voltage regulator and alternator both are working fine.

My lawn mower is trying to turn over but won't completely. we have replaced the starter, battery, and spark plug. why will this not crank and turn over?

It probably has a faulty starter solenoid which won't allow full amperage to the starter. Also the valve clearances need checking because if they are too loose the built in decompressor will not work and allow the engine to crank over. Regards Phil

Troy bilt zero turn

Hi please check all the wiring connections as you must have disconected the power soarce feeding the key switch to the starter.
Start around the engine then the battery, check the seat switch , brake/ clutch pedal , & the mower deck switches .
One wire is just disconnected or the connection is broken so check all connections by unconecting & reconnecting them as it may even be a corroded wire that has been disturbed when being cleaned.
