Solution: Floppy or CD that is not bootable is currently in the computer Verify that no floppy diskette or CD is currently in the computer. If a diskette or CD is in the computer that is not bootable your computer may attempt to boot from that diskette or CD causing this error message.
BIOS is not setup properly Additional information and help with getting into BIOS or CMOS setup can be found on http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000...
Verify that your hard disk drive is setup and detected properly in BIOS. You're computer should list a hard disk drive installed either under the main page or the drives page in BIOS. If BIOS indicates the drive is not installed or not detected skip to Hard Disk drive is bad or not connected ....
Verify the boot options are properly set in BIOS, almost all BIOS setups should contain options specifying how your computer boots. For example, most computers should have their boot options setup similar to the below example.
 - Floppy drive
 - CD drive
 - Hard drive

Rest your BIOS to default values. Many BIOS will enable users to reset the values to the default settings. If you've tried the above options without success try resetting the BIOS.
Hard disk drive does not have bootable files on it It is possible that command.com or another bootable file may be missing from the hard disk drive. Follow the below steps to possible resolve your issue.
Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows ME users
Boot from a bootable floppy diskette.
At the A:\> type fdisk <press enter>
If you receive a message no fixed disk present, read Hard Disk drive is bad or not connected ....
If you are able to get into fdisk, choose option 4 to display the partition information. In the partition information, if the System is listed as FAT16 or FAT32 then continue to step 5. If you have a message indicating no partitions defined, no information is on your hard disk drive and you will need to create a new partition. See our fdisk page for additional information.
If you see FAT16 or FAT32 in fdisk press the ESC key until back at the A:\>
Once at the A:\> type, sys c: <press enter> (only do this command if you are using the same operating system that this diskette was created on).
This should return a message 'System Transferred', if you receive bad command or file name and have verified you have typed the command properly, you will need to obtain a bootable diskette with the file sys.com on it.
If system was transferred successfully, reboot the computer and issue should be resolved.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP users
Boot from either your ERD, your bootable Windows CD, or your bootable restore CD.
Once boot attempt to repair Windows. If you're able to repair Windows remove the disks and reboot the computer.
All users
If your operating system is not listed above or the above steps did not resolve your issue you can also try erasing the hard disk drive and starting over. The hard disk drive is bad or not connected properly
If you have attempted all above suggestions and you are still encountering the same issues, verify the connections are properly connected to the computer if the hard drive was recently installed or the computer was moved.
Unfortunately, if all connections are setup properly and all the above recommendations have been attempted, it is likely that the hard disk drive is bad and it will need to be replaced.

GX150 optiflex "setup utility" configuration

Craig,

If I follow you correctly, you are asking what setting you should have in the BIOS to make it Boot again.
Fastest solution is to return to the BIOS and use the option of "Load Setup Defaults". These are the settings that the Manufacture or the OEM Motherboard Manufacture would have used during setup.
With any luck, that should allow the system to restore to booting status.

I hope this helps.

My acer veriton m661 desktop--i cannot set the time, checksum corrupt, possibly flashed with wrong acer bios-acer europe-any fix??

Examine the setup options to see if there's a failsafe mode or a BIOS reset/restore. Otherwise contact Acer tech support to see if they can provide a BIOS reset. You may have to send it to them. Older motherboards had BIOS on a 28-pin socketed chip called an EPROM. These could be ordered from various suppliers with upgrades, etc. I have not seen these in use lately.

[Ithr]checkpoint failure dell 8400 dimension

What can cause this error?

Well, this is the problem since quite a variety of problems can trigger the error.

1: the bios can be malfunctioning (a bios reset or flash can give a solution)
2: the cpu can be malfunctioning (this requires a new cpu)
3: the cpu socket can be failing (this requires a new mb)
4: the problem can be with bad usb sockets
5: even a bad uplink to a usb hub can cause this error to appear.
Did you change your monitor lately? I would chase down the USB things first...that and the monitor seem to trip the trigger...
Hope this get you started- I think you were right on target with the flash of the BIOS-try it again using the BIOS flash downloaded from the dell site...and to run the chipset again...it just might
Good luck my friend, hope this helps, please leave rating, thank you kindly

I have an Asus p4s533-mx motherboard which boots and runs fine (sometimes). But when I perform a warm boot, it often won't pass POST. The beep code is one long and two short. If I power it down and let it...

The response from ASUS tech support - It's a standard Award BIOS, so they're the standard beep codes.

So I wrote the following on page 3-4 of my user guide:

1 long + 2 short = Video adaptor error
1 long + 3 short = No video card or bad video RAM

high freq beeps while running = Overheated cpu

repeating high/low = cpu problem

repeating (endless loop) = memory error

Bios setup problem at booting.

Make sure the BIOS Configuration Jumper is in the 'Normal' position (pins 1 and 2) and not in the Config position (pins 2 and 3). It is located near the battery at the corner of the board. The Manual and Config information can be found here.

Make sure your BIOS can handle an upgraded CPU. I would go into bios, check the "default" or "fail safe" boot option and then power down. Lift keyboard or access your CPU and change out. Remember to touch something metallic before you operate so you discharge any static electricity (killed a CPU and a video card by not doing this ONCE) Boot up and notice any BIOS messages, may want to start in safe mode just to get a basic working config going, then power down, access BIOS and start getting it back to your best config, maybe stepping one item at a time, rebooting and continuing until you get a stable platform.

Acer Aspire 3610 laptop - Windows XP error

on a friend's Windows 98 SE or Windows ME computer, create a floppy "Startup disk". Insert in your pc floppy drive and turn on. If floppy drive was not accessed, then get to BIOS and ensure "Boot from floppy drive" is set prior to "boot from hard drive". Once at first screen, select "Boot with CD-ROM driver". Insert CD-ROM and initiate entire re-install of Windows. Windows may do some self-restarting. At first restart do this: get to BIOS and ensure "Boot from hard drive" is set prior to "boot from floppy drive".
