Yes the Sharp Mx2300n has service mode. To enter service mode you will need the original admin password, this password 9 times our of 10 is admin.

Step 1: press SYSTEM SETTINGS button on printer

Step 2: At the top right side of the screen is two buttons 1 Admin Password 2 Exit. Press Admin Password.

Step 3: Press password button

Step 4: type admin (no caps)

Step 5: press OK

Do a factory reset to this set, and check. Refer its user manual for details. On some occasions, you might have to enter its service mode option to do a factory reset. When this machine was started after connecting the Color Image Reader-E1/F1, the screen for the shutdown sequence appeared (and E732-9999 was recorded as an error history in service mode). 4. Turn OFF the main power switch, and connect the DDI cable.

Select IIS Normal (option 10) this is the normal volume for the phone. Scroll down to select Rx vol. then change level 14 to a higher value. Maximum is 30,000, i set mine at 5000
You can do the same for IIS Normal2 this is the volume for Music Player

edge enhancement option i think would be enabled if you are in dynamic or movie mode. What it does is to enhance the contrast of the edges of 2 different colors.

I have the LA32S8, similar specs but only 7000:1 CONTRAST ratio. when playing dvd, i set it to movie mode. Settings vary on different tv and player. you can adjust first the backlight, then brightness then contrast, color and sharpness. the brightness you adjust by choosing the level that shows enough details on dark scenes. adjust if its too dark not to see the details of the scene. contrast, you can set by distiguishing vivid colors of the picture, dont put too much contrast as your picture would look flat. it should have a 3d look, same also with sharpness, you can experiment on the face of a person to show details on the edges.
color you set just enough to make it accurate on color reproduction.
