Latch problem I have a 98 jeep grand charokee, door will open from inside not outside. my wife broke the sheetmetal around the door mech. I reattatched the metal and installed the 3 bolt/screws in the mech. could something have detatched any linkage inside the door cavity?

My wife did the same thing to my truck. I am a bodyman so I know your problem. The Latch mech that is held by the 3 screws you mentioned needs to be replaced. The release leaver that engages your door strycker is not returning to the correct position when you press the door button. the inside door leaver activates the mech from a different position and has more throw so it often releases. Unfortunately the latch is very expensive at least I think so!
it is a bit complicated to exchange so get someone who has done it a few times... not much room in there to connect the leavers. Phil

Sliding door on 98 Toyota Sienna will not open from the outside but opens fine from the inside. How do I correct this myself?

Most likely a control cable either came off or broke off the inside latch, the door panel should be removed to inspect for this.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee - The rear passenger side door is locked and will not open. I cannot open from the inside - missing the manual.

sounds like the child lock is on and the outside mechanism is broke ,difficult job as you will have to open door by removing the door panel in situ

I have a jeep wrangler 1998 model and i can open from the outside but i cant from the inside

Most likely the rod that connects from the inside lever to the latch has come disconnected. There are small plastic clips that hold the rod to the latch, that may have broke. Would require removing the door panel.

98 grand prix rear doors won't open

Sometimes..........tapping with a rubber hammer around the door latch .....which is about halfway down the door at the rear of the door from the exterior.......THEN pulling the lock button open on the rear door will allow you to........open the door.
Do not touch the outside handle until the inside lock button is triggered from inside the door.
If this does open the door (s) do not RE LOCK them until the latches inside the doors are WELL lubricated.....this lubrication will require inside door panel removal.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Driver side door handle will not open

Start by spraying WD-40 or similar penetrant in behind and all around door latch & in behind handle as much as you can get to, and give it time to soak in & keep working it, as it may be just a lack of lubricant & becoming partially seized.May take 2 or 3 soakings.

1998 Jeep wrangler

Remove the inner door panel and check to make sure that the linkage rod that goes between the outer handle and the latch is connected. It's possible that the plastic end clip broke.

Rear passenger door will not open

If the door won't open from either the inside or outside than there is a problem with the latch assembly or alignment. You can use the other rear door to see how the child lock works. Meanwhile, you'll have to remove the door panel on the right rear door from inside the vehicle. Then you can reach inside with a screwdriver and flashlight and work the latch free. Once you get it open you can further diagnose if it is alignment or a faulty latch assembly. It's not going to be easy getting the door panel off from inside or working the latch to release. I hope this helps.
