How can I connect Tandberg SLR60 device to a PC with windows XP? Device is installed but it is not listed in removable media section. There are no problems reported in device manager etc.

The SLR60 is a SCSI device. First you need to acquire a SCSI adapter, such as an Adaptec 29160 or 39160 PCI SCSI adapter. Both the adapter and the SLR60 have 68-pin connections, so you will need a cable similar to this one: Once you have all of this, connect the tape device via cable to the adapter. You will need a 3rd-party backup program, such as Seagate Backup Exec or NovaBackup.

Does window 8 supports Audio Recorder 3.0 with USB Cassette Player?

Don't know about Audio Recorder 3.0, but the free Audacity software can probably meet your needs, and it ruins well under Windows 8.1.

Where to find drivers for Tanberg SLR6

You have to be sure the computer has the correct software to recognise the hardware and can work with it. From Windows 7 and up, for all hardware that is certified with Microsoft, you can download the drivers from Microsoft. Lots of hardware is recognised when connected and will initiate a download from Microsoft. But not all hardware will do so and not all hardware is compatible (same as not certified by Microsoft from Windows 7 and up) with the new operating systems.

Most things that worked fine with Windows XP and or Vista, can fail with Windows 7 and 8, because the factory that made the hardware in the first place does not ask for certification with Microsoft for their old Hardware. They only spend time and money to get their new hardware certified on the new operating systems.

So most of the time the drivers that came with your tape drive, could be used with the operating systems of that time. Till Windows XP, you could install drivers yourself, even old and outdated drivers most of the time worked. In the newer OS'n you ran out of luck.

The driver for this Archive > Seagate > Certance > and finally Quantum drive was included in Windows. Try Window Device Manager > select the drive > properties > update driver > Can Windows Update select No not at this time > Install from a list... > Don't Search...> Tape Drive > try either the Standard tape drives DAT driver or a Compaq DAT. If none of those work you are probably out of luck.

I have a Seagate Tapestor 20GB tape drive. I have upgraded to a XP driver but the software does not recognize the tape media to do a backup.

Try to use a cleaning cartridge. If the tape drive is still not recognizing the tape media after you clean it then your heads are bad

I would suggest you have to put it on a Windows 95 computer as I have a unit and the Driver should go with a windows 95 just to get your data.

if you "have not" using Backup Software (e.g. Symantec Backup Exec, CA), you can try this IBM LTO-4 driver for Win2K.
