Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 61" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Monitor goes off and on by itself

After the monitor comes on, it will stay on for about 2  minutes, then it goes off for about a minute and then it continues doing that the entire time it's on.  Any suggestions for a fix?  It's not going off completely like it does when you use the power button and the blue screen appears until it shuts itself down.  What happens is that the blue lights that let you know when the monitor is on start blinking, the screen goes black and the blue series of lights quits blinking.  A minute or so later, they start blinking, the screen comes on for about a minute and it continues to repeat itself, just like I feel I am doing right now.  HELP!!!

Hello bjaykaye,

The problems you are having are an indication of a Power Supply problem. The issue could be in the switching power supply or the High Voltage Power Supply. The shutdown circuit is activating which is allowing the TV to play until it detects an over-current event. When an over-current event happens the shutdown circuit will turn the TV off. I would suggest that you check the Horizontal Output Transistor, the HV Transformer, the Horizontal damper diode, and the capacitors that are in parallel to the damper diode. The important thing is to find the component that is causing the problem. If you do not have a background in electronics I would suggest that you get a qualified electronics technician to look at the set.

Thank you,
Shuttle83

Acer Monitor Not Staying On

Hi,

It sounds like there's a problem with the monitor itself. It may be that the lamp in the computer is dying, which would explain why it keeps going out. Other possibility is that the monitor isn't receiving power properly either through the cable or inside the monitor itself.

If your're not the kind of person who wouldn't mind opening the monitor up and hopping in there, then I recommend you take it somewhere it can be diagnosed like Best Buy.

Hope I helped :)

Monitor goes blank after about 30 minutes. Then you can shut it off and turn it back on and it will work for another 30 minutes or so. What could cause this?

check your power settings (run>control>power options>change plan settings>advanced options>display)
you will see the setting for your monitor to power off
it should be set to 2 hrs or more if you plan on watching a movie or keeping the monitor on without having to frequently touch the keyboard or mouse.
turning adaptive display on may affect your situation as well. try switching it on.

This should do the trick for you. If not you may have an issue with either your video card or your monitors power supply.
(if the light stays on on the monitor when it goes blank but it doesnt repsond to the mouse or the keyboard, its a setting on your system or the hardware itself)
Good Luck!!

Screen goes black and power light goes out after a few minutes

it would seem that one of the internal components has failed / overheated Dont open the rear of the monitor !

if pos drop it into your nearest pc repair shop and have is serviced it may just need cleaned to free it from dust build up
on the inner parts this may be causing the unit to over heat

HP mx705 17 in.CRT Conventional Monitor vertical goes bad

While it is sounding like a hardware problem. I'll throw in my 2 cents. Have you check the cables from the power to the source and from the monitor to the computer. Just make sure those aren't loose. One other thing...you mentioned you turn off the computer "afterwards" then it fixes itself. Is the fix for longer than it turns on at first? or does it stay on longer then goes out? Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
