Your Charging Stator seems to be the culprit. The Battery when it is STATIC should be 12.4-12.8 Volts. When running, there is a Draw from any electrical component. The Stator works as the Alternator/Generator on your vehicle and should boost the Voltage Output up to 13.4-14.2. Seeing that it drops, it is telling me that you have either lost Ground or the Stator is defective and needs to be tested for Continuity and OHM's. This will give you something to troubleshoot and rectify your problem.

yes the battery is probably five years old and not capable of holding a charge. if you go to a Murray's or autozone they will test the battery for free.
SOURCE: I have replaced my alternator
check all wires or there may be a fuse that has blowen out tip alot of times there may be a bad ground.goodluck
SOURCE: can a 6 volt battery only be charged on the 40/100
Yes. If you try to use 12 volt it may cause an explosion.

Hello, this seems to be a common problem on the F250-F450 super duty diesels...adding more electrical options, winches, light bars, radios, etc. makes it worse. They will eat alternators. What happens is the diodes and the regulators fail. Alternators are also rated like a starter, on a continuous duty cycle basis. This spec is rarely (if ever) published for automotive grade alternators.
Example: The starter for the 6.0 is rated for 3kv.
That is, 3,000 watt ---- a lot of energy.
But it is only rated for operation maybe
2 or 3 minutes at a time an hour --- then it needs to "rest" to cool, etc.
Operate the starter for much more (e.g.
continuously) and it will burn out with as short as 1 to 2 hours of continuous
operation.
It is an incredibly low
duty cycle device --- only intended to be used a few times a day max, and then,
only for a brief minute or less....
On these Fords, what i have done to is gone to a bigger better extreme service alternator, and modified the wires to remedy this problem. A 190amp alternator has been in service on a 05 F350 wrecker now for over two years, with no problems...before that, every 60-90 days (with a 110amp)
I also add on a fused cable as well..Check the exsting factory cable fusible link rating, install the same rating fuse and same or heavier gauge wire as factory....Run both wires side by side, be sure it is well protected, secured,
extra chafe protection sleeve, etc....You are more than doubling the potential current flow, so the existing wire might
melt...I strongly advise changing the pigtail if you have any doubts.
Here is a link that will hook you up with a high output alternator.
Note:---You can go bigger than the 190amp if needed, i used that as an example. Good luck, i hope this helps.
