I also have a DS Lite and it happens when playing New Super Mario Bros. (and it usually happens when trying to jump). At first I thought I was hitting the power button on the right, but it's not that.
Is it possible that is it the game and not the DS?
Sorry about that... I don't remember giving two thumbs or anything like that. I just hit the was this helpful button.
By the way, the problem is the Y-button, which apparently turns off the DS somehow. When I am playing the game, I usually keep it pressed so I can jump higher. And after a while, it turns off! Not sure what your problem is here... says same exact problem... same as what? It sounds like it is powering off in the middle of use? If that's the case then it is the actual DS device and not the game. If anything the game would cause the DS to lock up but not power off.
Is there any way you could re-evaluate the 2 thumbs you gave me? It really hurts my reputation on the site even though it appears I answered your question?
Thanks
Tim

New Super Mario Bros has a little more depth than just moving right and jumping.
If you get a hang of the Triple Jump and Wall Jump techniques you can get through stages a little faster than usual. It takes a little practice and isn't needed but can be rather fun.
