Question about Computers & Internet
I have the same problem. It says my drive is working fine, but it never seems to read any discs I put in it. This may sound a bit silly, but I found a bit of a work around just to be able to use the drive at all. I have music player downloaded called JetAudio (it's free, check download.com), and in the main viewing window you can choose to play from a Disc or File. I click the disc button and wait for it to say "data cd" or it'll play a music cd if that's what's in your drive. Then I just open the drive folder, and the files show up. It's strange, but it's been working for me for awhile. I do notice a couple small hiccups occassionally as it reads the disc, but overall works pretty well. Better than nothing I guess. Hope this helps as a temporary fix.
