Annoying Nuisance on the monitor

The minute the computer starts up an annoying gray box outlined in white starts moving around on the screen kinda like how a dvd player when it shows its screensaver. It goes in all directions. The text in the box says, "input not supported". How do I get rid of it??? The monitor I have is an AL1916 so it's not the widescreen version. Can you give me a helpful solution? Thanks

Re: Annoying Nuisance on the monitor

Boot in safe mode,, set lowest resolution, if still not work.. go to device manager and check if standard monitor is there in the list, and if nt there add it manually....

Re: Annoying Nuisance on the monitor

Run your system in 'Safe Mode'. Go to Display settings and set lowest possible resolution. Then restart computer and run windows again in normal mode. Should have normal screen. If this will not work - then under safe mode uninstall graphic card. Then run windows with standard ones and in LOWEST possible resolution install drivers again. I have had it many times and it made swear first time.

Acer X243w monitor as a TV Pic great but "not supported" box

My assumtion is that the monitor is not displaying in 1920x1080 but has defaulted to a resolution that it can handle so as to display something. Step down the resolutions on the monitor until the gray box disappears. If you're satisfied with the picture your watching then hopefully you will be happy when you find the resolution the monitor is actually displaying.
Good luck!

this means that your screen settings are not compatible with the game. like 16 bit color to 32 bit color. set the screen settings so that you can play. Display properties would let u adjust these colors.

E173FP 17" LCD Monitor Problem

I have the same problem. It seems like a virus to me, but my anti-virus doesn't find anything. I went to the main menu on the moniter and changed the display time to five seconds and locked the OSD display. Now all the appears is a smaller box showing a lock which goes out in five seconds. It is still annoying, but less intrusive then before. Hopefully, some one will determine a permanent fix for this problem.

I know exactly what your talking about. I've seen in many times. It' happens too in CRT monitors as well as LCD. It could ALTHOUGH be as simple as a bad cable catching interference. Most likely though, it sounds like a bad LCD driver board or video board. If you have warranty, call it in. Otherwise see if it lessens with adjustments of contrast and brightness up and down. This directly affect the driver board power and can improve it enough to be tolerable again.
