I have been so upset with my Kenmore products - I bought this matching set - the Kenmore washer and dryer - don't have the washer anymore - it only lasted 3 years and then started leaking and without being able to be fixed -

my dryer for months has been making this screeching noise it is so annoying and this dryer also gets things caught in it on the inside and ruins clothes with curious brown stain marks -

I am not sure what to do about the noise -

if I have the SEARS people come out - I really don't want to spend that kind of money if this dryer is really a peice of junk -

and I don't really know that much about fixing it myself -

what do I look for if I pull it out from the wall and take the back off??? how do I know which part to order and try to replace myself???

    thanks -

I'll never buy Kenmore or Frigidaire again!

I have the same unit and there is no bearing on this unit, it sits on a support (center) and due to the weight of the tumbler it gives on the back support and moves the tumbler forward and leaves a gap in the front giving clearance to catch clothing, the only possible repair is to replace the whole back panel (metal) and this shall take care of the alignment of the tumbler; this is a manufacturing problem the metal is not strong enough to support the strain of the tumbler, if replaced this shall occurred again.

Your dryer was made by Frigidaire and needs what is called a rear bearing kit (#5303281153 costs about $30) from frigidaire.
there is also a good chance that your bearing failed because the dryer overheated (overheating is mostly caused by the venting being restricted)

All of the suddenmy dryer makes this awful noise-sounds like when a washer is off balance.

Hello

Awful noise that sounds like its out off balance comes when the belt is either broken or worn out and needs replacement. If you want to do this yourself then you can check this video on youtube:

Kenmore 90 Series Dryer started to operate very loudly. The noise sounds like it normally does while drying, just much, much louder than usual.

I would think the belts are getting bad need to be checked anyway, also while your checking the belts check the tenision pulley for the belts make sure it has not fallen off, also, make sure dryer is LEVEL, hope this helps let me know please thks larry

I have replaced the belt the machine makes a awful noise and now i have found a washer where does it go help needed gggrrrr

If it is the washer I think it is, it fits on the drum shaft, there by creating a spacer between the rear of the drum and the rear panel of dryer.
It means you will have to free drum from rear bearing assy.
Hope this helps.

Kenmore 70 series dryer making loud rattling noise, drying ok

it could be a worn motor bearing, but they usually last for 20 years, i would guess that you have a worn drum roller, the thing that holds up the drum and looks like a wheel.
if your sure the motor has a worn bearing then replacing the motor is not easy as you have to unscrew the blower wheel from the motor shaft.
it also may be that you are talking about the idler pulley being worn. it is the device that holds tension against the belt and they also will wear out and be "wobbly"

Agitator very noisy while washing

There is a small roller that tightens the drive belt for the drum inside this unit. If it is loose it makes a squeaking noise. Tightening this may solve your problem. You will have to take off the back panel to do this repair
