Camera can't use memory card

I transferred all my pictures onto my computer and then deleted them from the camera but since then the camera has not been able to use the memory card it keeps saying no memory card. If i remove the memory card is will take pictures with no problem (although obviously only a few as the camera itself has very little memory) but as soon as i put the memory card back in it can't take any photos. how can i fix the problem?
