I just got my game shaved down to get the laser damage removed. but when i play it it reads but the goes silent and im left with a black screen. what do i do? and yes it reads alll my other games.
Hi,
i assume when you say Shaved down, you mean resurfaced or scratches removed.
i,d suggest they did,nt do a very good job of resurfacing the disk, or the damage is still there.
the console can,t read all the data from the disk, and will therefore lockup or black screen.

It sounds like the laser optics are dusty and need cleaning. The read or tracking laser is a lot lower power than the read laser and is easy to send off track.
The Playstation 3 is a wonderful video game console, however, with heavy usage, the laser does eventually burn out. The first signs of the laser starting to burn out is that your game will start freezing during game play. Eventually the game will stop reading altogether (even though movies sometimes still work). Eventually movies will stop working and the whole laser will eventually die.
The following website sells PS3 lasers and also performs repairs:
hello. maybe the blue laser that play the ps3 games and bluray disc might be broken. if your ps3 plays ps2 games and dvds, then im afraid you have to replace your broken laser of your ps3. you can also try reformatting your drive. hope this helps. goodluck!
Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs. Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating “Disc Read Error” or something to that effect. Best remedy for starters, is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. A common problem that Xbox owners are reporting is if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc. Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally required to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the discs is in play, the games console itself may require repair. You should contact Microsoft for assessment and guidelines. Hope this Helps!!

It dont take much to misalign the laser drive. It will need to be looked at by someone who knows how to adjust or replace the laser. We do offer this service. Email us if your interested. [email protected]
The Disk May Be Internally Damaged Or Externally Damaged, I Would Advise To Get A Disk Cleaning Machine. Or Inside The Console The Laser That Reads The Disk May Be Broken Best To Send It To A Game Shop Or Your Nearest Retailer.
I left all ready some important help about this issue. I do believe you have a faulty laser since ps3 have 2 diode laser on the same mechanic and each one is independent for loading your disk. You can read dvd movie but no blue ray disk or Ps3 game or vice versa. If you have few minutes look on my other suggestion Fabio
