To disable or enable the Fn-functions, try locating them in BIOS using this guide.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=dk&lc=da&dlc=da&docname=c02035108

Otherwise, try hitting these key-combos in Windows, pressing the keys down exactly at once:
Dell = Fn + F4
Compaq = Fn + ScrLk
Lenovo = FN + Num Lock
IBM Thinkpad - Shift + Scroll Lock Num

Others:
Fn + F11
Ctrl + F11
Fn + Num Lock
Fn + Shift + Num Lock

Make sure you have installed all the required programs for the laptop, check the hp website for programs for your hp model and see if you have them all installed not having the programs installed can cause the problem. www.hp.com drivers / support / download ,enter your brand HP and then series - pavillion and the model from the bottom of the laptop.

How can i unlock my keyboard?my laptop is HP Pavillion dv6940se.pls reply asap.thank you very much.

The only way to lock/unlock a keyboard is either with the Fn key and the F# key corresponding to that function. The F# key may have a padlock icon. Or if you can use your mouse, you can try going to control panel, ease of access center and click the heading 'change how your keyboard works'. I believe there are programs available which can be used to lock the keyboard, but that would likely have been installed after purchase and should have an icon in the system tray!

What do all the key functions do ?

Because you have a multimedia keyboard, there are additional functions for those special function keys. The icons on the keys will tell you if they do something special (like play sounds, increase the volume, etc) This kind of keyboard is designed for those who play DVDs and CDs and don't want to have to open a menu on the screen to quickly play music, etc.

Multimedia keyboard on function keys. Functions work with a key "Function" How to change "Multimedia keys first" on "Function keys first" ???

You can change the settings by going to BIOS. To go to BIOS, restart the system and as soon as you restart, start tapping the <F2> key located on the keyboard. This will take you to BIOS.
You can use the Function Key Behavior setting in the System Setup (BIOS) utility to configure the media control keys. The options in the Function Key Behaviour setting are:
Multimedia Key First - This is the default option. Press any multimedia key directly. For function key, press <Fn> + the required function key.
Function Key First - Press any function key directly. For multimedia key, press <Fn> + the required multimedia key.

Sometimes the keys that have white and blue writing on them will only respond blue. How do i get them to respond as white instead of blue keys?

You have a FNC key on your keyboard. Since it is a laptop, your keyboard can not have all the keys that a normal keyboard has. This is handled by making some keys perform two or more functions. Thus, the alternate key use if the blue keys (function key is depressed). You will pribably find that there is a light labeled as FNC where you see your caps lock, num lock etc.. it sounds to me that you have your keyboard in alternate function mode so that the keys are performing the alternate functions (probably the numeric keys if it is a normal configuration..).
Thanks!
