Original DS Touch screen not registering touch

Has been working fine for 18 months. Today for no apparent reason the touch screen seems not to reegister being "touched"...  i've disconnected and reconnected the battery.

Any troubleshooting/repair suggestions?

Re: Original DS Touch screen not registering touch

Using a toothbrush and brushing around the screen to remove 'rubbish' had the desired effect.

If you have a valid warranty then send it in, if not you can either take it to a repair shop or indulge in a bit of DIY.

I'm assuming it's a fat DS (original) as thats the catagory you have listed this question in in which case I don't have a dismantling guide written up... If you do need help taking it apart and fitting a new touch screen send me a message via my profile page. You can get a new touch screen for the fat DS from ebay at a very reasonable price.

If you have a DS lite Ihave a dismantling guide written up which you can access by clicking here as well as a touch screen replacement guide click here. Again you can get a new touch screen from ebay for a very reasonable price.

Hope this helps and please do contact me if you need any more info.

Ds top screen turns white then shuts off.

the cables need to be inserted Fully And squarely/evenly.
Also ensure The Tabs are locked Down correctly.
If none of this Works, you may have a blown On-Board Fuse.
I believe these Are Known As F1 And F2.

Ds touch screen

Two choices. One: If your console still has a warranty, then send it in to Nintendo for repair. Two: Search Ebay or another website for replacement touch screens, and buy one. Open up the console, amd replace the faulty touch screen with the brand new touch screen. Then put the console back together.

Shuts off when you touch the touch screen!

Im guessing that your replacement screen is metal backed (the original had a poly-foam backing for a reason) ,,,, when you tap lightly it works, when you press hard your pressing the metal back of the screen onto the mini-board behind it and shorting it out

If you keep doing this you will damage the mini-board, take it back out and cover the metal back with sellotape or masking tape making sure to cover the whole metal back, (dont go up the sides or its impossible to get back into the cover).

Re-assemble as before and if it isnt too late for this you will have a working DS again.

Hope this isnt too late

DS Lite Touch Screen does not respond to touch

on the top right hand side of the screen just under the front there are four or five contact pads this is where the touch screen get the info from the touch screen to the ds itself if you have taken the ds apart maybe the pads are slightly out of line this can be fixed by applying light pressure to the pads to make them stick down and get a proper contact
