I can not use my phone at all, because suddenly the red light at the top will not turn off. I think its the line in use light. It is the only phone in my home so i know the line isn't in use, also nothing on the display lights up and none of the buttons do anything ? I've taken the battery out thinking that that would maybe clear any problems up with no avail...

Re: Red light won't turn off ! ?
Try it using a different phone jack, I am hoping it is just a bad line. If it doesn't work then hopefully you have warranty because it needs to be repaired. You could also try to leave the battery out for a few hours to drain the phone memory, then try it again. Get back to me if it works.

Usually, the red light indicates that the battery is so low that there isn't enough of a charge to power the phone. Leave it charging for a while, then try again. Alternatively, if it is still a problem, take the battery out, which will reset the phone, then put it back in and recharge. Hopefully, one of those 2 options will help. If not, got to your wireless store for help!
Which means what? You have a solid red light on the line or you don't have the line at all. A TDA system rings by a process called ICD groups. You can have a phone in an ICD (600 by default) and tell it the number of rings to delay, not ring, or immediate ring, but that means that the line button will flash as the call is coming in. If you don't assign it to a group, it's really stupid and won't do anything but light solid red.
If you have access to installer programming, you assign the extension to the main ICD. If you don't you have to call your Panasonic installer or dealer.
My set is 14 mo old and yesterday while on it suddenly switched off. buttons did not work to turn it on again though the red power light was on. I unplugged it and replugged it and it then turned on. The picture is there but its fadded and has areas of black pixalation in it. It's over warrenty and I just don't know what to do. What happened and will it cost over $500 as a repair shop told me on the phone? This was a gift to me and I'm on Social Security so I'm kind of shaken by this. Thanx, Lee
These are called retrace lines they occur because of the blanking pulse not turning off the electron guns in the picture tube during the retrace period. Since this is occuring with the red gun there may be a proble with the video circuitry connected to the red electron gun of the picture tube. This would include the red amp and the red driver transistors. You will need a schematic and a multimeter to properly test these items.
