Do you have the rechargeable Batteries? If so they do wear down after so long or over charging them will destroy the batteries as well. But if your using the AA batteries then it should still work and maybe just needs to be re-synced to your xbox. If that is the case then you push the top small button that says connect on the link I pasted and then the button on the xbox. If you have new xbox its by the lil door on the front and if you have the old one its next to the memory slots. hope this helps.

it sounds like your controller keeps losing sync with the 360.
- turn them both off
- turn on the 360 with the power button on the console
- wait for it to start up, then press the sync button next to the usb flap on front.
- then press the sync button on the controller (by the recharge connection slot)
That should reset it.

it could be one of many things,
1)battery wont hold its charge
2)if the bottom corners of the battery pack holder are cracked it will keep disconnecting
3)could be controller.

ok the reason why the contoller just stop working is because microsoft has built all there x boxs and xbox contorlers to self destruct the have put in a little power diode like device so after so it is used for a preset period of time they stuff up that is why they will replace them out of warranty and this is not good enought i have a contact at microsoft and the reason why they put this in is becasue all the wireless devices use 2.4ghz wich is a really high freq so the only diode they could get to fit and make the circut work for this is this one wich means it is not designed for ongoing transmitting and reciving so there is nothing to do when it stop its burnt out another reason why xbox should have gone bluetooth aka ps3

There is a small round button located on the Xbox next to the second memory card slot "slot B" push that to search for the controller. At the the same time there is a small round button located at the top of the controller next to the cord's slot in the middle, push this as well. Both the Xbox and controller should start flashing in a circle then they will start blinking together indicating they are linked. If you have a cord for the controller you can simply plug in the cord and it will automatically link, eliminating the steps above.
