Re: Where is the UMD?
UMD is Universal Media Disc, its a small disc are used for PSP. press the "eject" button on the top to open the disc tray. Usually the problem its not from the UMD, but from the console.
The first check the version you are running on psp, >> Go to the PSP Menu and move across to the
"Settings Menu". Scroll down, select to "System Settings" >>
"System Information" and you should see version of your PSP. If the UMD has a high version than ur console, u need to update ur psp.

This is usually a problem that comes up when you are trying to play a disc that is badly cracked or is probably having a very rough face and as a result, the data on it cannot be read by the lens of your psp UMD drive. The best thing to do is to try loading this disc on another psp and see if you get the same result then you can be certain that the disc is damaged or you could try another disc on your psp and see if it works, then you would be sure if it is the psp or the disc that is damaged. hope this helped you?
Make sure the UMD disk is clean and you have the latest firmware installed. If that doesn't work, open up the UMD slot and clean the laser with a lint-free cloth. If all fails, you will need to get your PSP fixed or buy a replacement laser.
The first thing to check is the firmware of your PSP. You should make sure that your PSP has the latest firmware loaded. Because some games will not work or load up if the latest firmware is not installed or loaded up.
You usually get this error message 80010087 if the UMD drive has errors reading the UMD disc or otherwise the disc is not present or was ejected while in the middle of playing a game or loading a movie. I suggest that you try to testing to see if the problem happens with other UMD discs, if it doesn't then most likely the disc could be damaged or scratched.
Now if you are using a modded PSP then you will get this error if you load a game from the memory stick without having any UMD disc inserted in the drive. Or if the game that you are trying to load requires a higher firmware version installed into the PSP. You will be required to flash a higher modded firmware to fix this error if this is your case.
is the silver part of the psp's umd disk at all scratched? if it is dismantling the umd and cleaning it will often help fx this problem..after you have dismantled and cleaned the umd can be repaired with a small amount of sellotape .
if that didnt help then there is possibley a problem with the umd having been erased by a mgnet or your psp's laser having died or be in need of cleaning
You might have PSP stop reading UMD discs,
First you will do some trouble shooting with what might be wrong with your PSP
first is the Disc Spinning motor. This will not let The disc in the
UMD spin. On a working PSP you will hear the disc start to spin up, then you can hear the
laser start to twitch, followed by the laser motor moving the laser down the
something stuck in the UMD gear, try to clean the gear of arm of dust, plastic, soda, and even hair.
and at the last is the actual laser itself. It will not focus the laser to read
the UMD disc.
Hopefully this help, Pls post back should you need additional information...!
Can you see anything on start up for this game? If previously playing another game, did you exit correctly before loading the new game? Try inserting the last game successfullt played, test it, then sexit and try the new game again.
if you have already tried to read different umds and it still does not work.....i would suggest you remove the battery.....completely restart the unit....if at that time it still does not read umds....u either have a dirty lens or your unit is possibly faulty......you could attempt to clean with Q-tip and alcohol and retry
Can you run other UMD's and it read them? If so you need to possibly clean the Original UMD. If your not able to read any UmDs, or it will see the UMD and not load it up and run the UMD, you will need a new UMD drive. I can replace your UMD drive for $45 including return shipping.
