is the lock on the card by chance. also depending on how old the camera is and how big the sd card is in gb. the lumix may not be able to handle that size of card, too many gb. My lumix would only accept up to 4 gb, so when I moved to 16 they did not work.
Insert the memory card. Press the MENU button. Use up/down to highlight Setup (three horizontal sliders) and press the OK button. Use up/down to highlight "Format" and press OK.
Make sure you're using an SD card. If the card is larger than 2GB than it's actually an SDHC card and won't work in the C330.
I will assume that this camera is using a SD card as there is no make or model shown. All new memory cards need to be formatted to the camera so the camera can read the card. Also SD cards have a lock on the side it's a little sliding switch that can be very easily pushed to the lock side while installing the memory card here is a diagram of the lock and unlock position of this card.
Formatting a card must be done in the camera the memory card is being used in your owners manual may refer to formatting as initializing
Most likely the SD card is not being pushed in far enough to lock into place. You really need to use your fingernail to push it in past flush until you hear a clicking sound, at which point the card will lock into place.
Here are full instructions for insertion and removal of the SD card: Insert the memory card with the metal contacts going into the slot first and facing up at you. In other words the SD card label should be upside down when you insert it this way. You need to push the card in past flush to have the spring mechanism lock the card into place. To get the card out of the slot, push the card in past flush and then the spring mechanism will release it. You will hear a click when the card locks into place or is released from the slot.
the memory card on your camera is SD. on the side of the card you should be able to see a whitwe toggle switch, try to put it to the left, then try it again on the camera, if not, then try the switch on the right then try it on the camera.
one of them should unlock the memory card. if not, please let me know.
Do you have an SD card? If so you need to remove the card from the camera and look closely at the front of the card. You will see there is the little grey tab slider button on the left side. If it is pushed down into the locked position then you'll need to slide it up to unlock it. Then place the SD card back into your camera and all should be well..... Good Luck and Hope this helps you!
i know this is late, but my camera had the same problem. 1. If you go in the setup menu. 2. Push the right button once and scroll down to the menu that says format. 3. It will ask you if you want to erase all data. 4. Select No and everything should be fine.
The Nikon are very good about placing a sd symbol on the door of the memory compartment. The trick is to align the dog ear side of the memory stick with the picture on the door the push down until the stick bottoms out in the slot it should then lock in to place. Conversely to remove it push down again until it un locks.
Press "Menu" Press button to the right (towards a little flower on my camera) which takes you to the "setting" menu. scroll down to "format" right click again and it reads "All data deleted" and then gives you the option to "Format" or "Cancel". Select "Format" and then "ok" and pronto....your memory card is ready to go.
