Question about Brother HL 1430 Laser Printer

Won't even print test page

It worked very well until recently but now won't even print test page - makes noise as if it is going to but doesn't. No warning lights at all but just doesn't print. Any ideas?

It's probably trying to pull paper out but the roillers are old and not working:

Look where you put the paper in. See if you can see inside there and see the roller that turns and picks up the paper. If you can, make a mixture of alcohol and a little dish soap. Damp a rag with it, and reach in there to clean the rollers.  See if the rollers will turn manually, but be careful not to force anything.  Another way to get to the whole roller, would be to start making a print, while watching the rollers.  As soon as the rollers have turned half way, unplug the printer.  Now you can reach the other side and clean that.

There is another way to clean the rollers.  Using the alcohol mix, take a single sheet of paper, and damp one half of it with the solution.  Stick the single sheet in the paper tray, and make a print, but hold on to the paper so that it doesn't feed through the machine.  Do this several times, and the rollers turning against the wet paper should clean them..

Try to print again. It might take a few tries. The rollers have to turn against the paper and dry themselves off again.

If this works, then you need new rollers (cleaning them will only make them work temporarily and the problem will come more frequently until you change them).

Try to unplug machine for a couple of minutes. make sure that it is not out of paper,(sorry I have to make sure of everything). Let me know what happens.

How do I make a test page for my printer to check color.
You need to clarify :
1. Your printer cannot print color even though it prints color well from a test page;
2. Your printer cannot print color in a test print page.

If it is the first one, then you have to set it properly in Window Print Configuration page of that printer;
If it is the second one, then you have to check whether you have installed the color ink cartridge properly in the printer. If the color ink cartridge is installed properly, try to replace another new color ink cartridge. Finally it is still not work, then you have to bring back to the repair center.

When the printer is powered on, it makes a tweeting noise, and the display is blank.
Have you tired unplugging it for 5 minutes to reset the programming? If that doesn't work you likely have a failed printer, since printers have become dirt cheap for the home it is better to just replace it than try and fix it.

I've installed color cartridge but it won't print in color
Try to re-insert the color cartridge into the printer and make sure it is properly seated in the cartridge carrier.
If that doesn't help, try to clean the print nozzles. Please follow the steps below:
1. Press Copy. 2. Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display. 3. Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display. 4. Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles. 5. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.

The black ink on my Brother DCP-130C won't print and it's a brand new ink cartridge. I thought it was a defected cartridge so I bought another one, same thing. The other 3 colours print ok though....
I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.

The check print cartridge light is on and won't go off even after changing both ink cartridges
This could be a number of problems. Depending on the printer and ink, you may have to power cycle it (turn it off and then back on after a minute). Many printers nowadays also have you do an alignment page. You may want to attempt to do an alignment page if your printer has that functionality built in. If that doesn't work, as silly as it sounds, check to make sure both ink cartridges are locked into place securely, even if you need to remove them and put them back in.

My printer won't print. my computer is hooked up to it, and it doesn't give any error messages. it just doesn't do anything.
Go to Control Panel/Printers. Right click on your printer's name, and hit Print Test Page. If printer prints a page out, then the problem is likely with the software you're using to print - make sure you have selected the right printer in the dropdown. If the printer's name doesn't show in the Printers folder of Control Panel, the driver for it has not been installed. Do so and try again.

I recently bought a Scosche Digital FM Transmitter Model FMTD8/FMTD8R. I loaded my 8GB San-disk flash drive with music but the transmitter won't read it.. doesn't even detect the flash drive being...
wma files won't be read, only mp3 files, in my experience. My 512 mb SD card works, but it won't read my 8 gb SDHC card. I suspect it can't manage SDHC (high capacity) cards. I haven't tested yet, because as it turns out, neither can my computer... I think I'll fall back to a flash drive.
