WEN 6014: Motor is running, but chain doesn't move. Chain sprocket seems fine, cogs are only slightly worn, sprocket fits perfectly, no wear. Is there an internal clutch or connector? Motor worn out?

There is a clutch behind the metal housing where the chain sprocket at the engine end attaches to the chain . There are wear parts with springs on them that have to be changed. ChainSaw Shed Chain Saw Parts for Wen Wagner Brand Chain Saws Chains Bars... You can get parts here.

Motor turns but chain does not rotate

Ok, so if the clutch is turning and everything with the engine is functioning properly, then it can only be the chain or the chainsaw sprocket. Have you replaced the chain just recently? I'm only asking because even though it may be the right length, there are chains that have different sized drive links. Very seldom do the sprockets wear, but I have seen alot of times where someone buys a new chain and the drive links are either too big to sit properly into the sprocket or they're too small...

Obviously your chain brake is off correct?....

Chainsaw chain sprocket won,t turn

this seems to be a chain brake that's applied , try turning off chain brake by pulling back on hand guard till a click is felt

some folks moving up from an older saw to a more modern saw are not so familiar with chain brakes and don't understand them and how they work

Sounds like your chain is to tight.Take the cover that is at right side of the saw motor off and loosen the two nuts a bit and look for a tension screw behind the bar and back it off,if the bar won't move loosen the two nuts that hold the bar on the saw. With the saw siting like you use it pull down on chain and get about 1/8 of an inch between the bar and chain.(use gloves)If the bar is blue by the chain groove You will need a new bar.Blue means the bar has over heated and lost its temper. The blue metal is brittle in other words. You should all so check the drive sprocket for wear.

Unit was working great and just stopped all of a sudden. No unusal smell or noise

Make sure the power source is live. You could have suffered switch failure. If the motor runs but no movement at the chain, it could have blown the gearbox. It would help to have an AC voltmeter if you have to get inside the case to look for an electrical failure. Good luck!

240VAC European Model

From the Makita manual:
If the saw does not start when the ON/OFF switch (1) is actuated, it will be necessary to release the chain brake.
- Pull the hand guard (6) firmly in the direction of the arrow until you feel it catch.

If these don't work return it, maybe it is defective. Test the new one in the store.
