We have aspire 5920 laptop, if we are talking to others through net like skype viop the others cannot hear our voice. we are using head phone.

You need to check your audio (sometimes called Sound on some systems) settings (under control panel on Windows or Settings on Mac).

Under input (or sometimes called sound recording), make sure the headset you are using is selected.

You might also try using the headset with another program to see if it will record your voice. (Audacity is free http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. You can download it and try recording on it.)

Try your Sound settings, Recording/Playback/Mic device settings, you may need to setup for headset.

Get some headphones Acer in known for only 1 speaker

I will first want to ask that do your laptop have a built in microphone like that use for speech recognition? If yes, has your skype account been configured to use this microphone? if no, configure that in the settings tab of your skype account.
If your laptop do not have an in built microphone then get a head phone that has a microphone attached to it and configure it in your skype account.

Open control panel.
Click on Sounds and Audio Devices.
Click on Voice.
Make sure the microphone is plugged in.
Click on test hardware.
If it works there, make a note of the default devices in Voice playback and Voice recording.

You will then have to make sure the same settings are in the Microphone and Speakers boxes in Skype.
In Skype click on tools, the audio settings.

no the laptop doesnt. but vista has! rabish not very good but I'd recommend the software Dragon for voice recongnition

Upgrade to the new skype version!!

hithere your best bet is just to go onto the acer site and they will have all the updated drivers for windows vista on there. i had the sameproblem with my laptop which is also an acer. any problems then just emial meon [email protected].

Do you have Yahoo IM 8.1 installed which is compatible with Vista (this will also apply to the other software like G-talk, and Skype)?
When you have your software running (Yahoo, G-Talk, Skupe, etc) how much RAM is being used? CRTL-ALT-DEL to Task Manager and Performance Tab, then under PF Usage, tell me how much MB are you using?
Do you get this ‘hang’ with other software?
How many ICONS are in the right-hand corner of the tool-bar?
