I cannot play my dvd game on my ps2 , but my friends can play my dvd game on his ps2

First see if it plays cds. If so, try DVD movies. If so, try a game. If it plays cds but not DVD's or games, either the laser needs to be adjusted or replaced. I got a few PS2's from friends that they used ALOT. Turned out the lasers were bad. Memory cards only store game saves and such and don't help with media booting.

The only possible reason for your problem, since your slimline ps2 is STILL reading them (but just a little slow sometimes), is because the lens could hardly read your discs due to dust build up. Try cleaning it using a disc cleaner and letting it spin for like 30 seconds. If this does not fix the issue, then you may have to MANUALLY clean the lens. Open the cover and once you see the lens, get a clean swab or qtip and damp it in an alcohol and gently wipe the lens in a circular manner. Then let it dry and try to play those discs again.

If it plays audio CDs but no DVD videos or DVD games then you must replace the laser unit cause the part of your laser that read DVDs must be fried. 

Mine did the same thing "ps2 Glitch" The dvd player goes bad in them and the system will never again play dvd's just game's "get worn out" is what the company told me. I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE WARRENTY Fustrating But I have 2 that only play game's and one that still is holding out. SRY time to buy another one

you use the game controller from the PS2 to play a DVD or if you have a DVD remote specifically for the PS2, you can use that instead of the game controller.

is this a ps2 if so you will need to install the dvd software that should have came with the ps2 in the box from the shop

Just load the disc the same as a game and it will play dvd movies. Use the controller to press play/start

heythat does'nt work because only PS3's can play games from lower versions of the play station

might want to check the parnet settings on the system

It is best when finished with one game and moving to another game to reset your PS2 console before starting the new game. This way your sure to have fresh uninteruppted memory.
