Question about Samsung SyncMaster 17" TFT LCD Monitor

1 Answer

No display there is no display, just a black screen. Audio works. I have powered on and off several times with no improvement. It is the same whether the source is the pc or the cable tv.

Same problem. After moving it from one computer to another, it just wouldn't show a display anymore. All the buttons and lights seem ok, but no screen. Audio is fine when connected, but no display whatsoever, even the Samsung logo don't show when not connected to anything.

Turn the monitor on, turn the PC on and anything else you have attached that sends a video signal to the monitor.
Now take a bright light and shine it into the screen from an angle downwards from the top.
If you can see any images on the screen then your inverter has failed.
This can be repaired by a TV shop for a reasonable fee, but call around first, and also make sure they do actually service LCD monitors.

Hope this helps you both.

I cannot change my Visio resolution from 720 to 1080

If it is a 1080p TV, then the TV always displays at 1080p. The source device and/or the TV will scale and frame convert the image to match the TV resolution and frame rate. When you power an HDMI device, it reads the TV's supported resolutions and audio formats over the HDMI cable, then it chooses whether or not to scale the image for the TV. The television then receives the signal and performs whatever image processing is needed to match the display needs. With many Source devices, you can use a setup menu to configure whether video should always be scaled up to 1080p. Some people prefer the image scaling of the television. However, if the Source does not upscale, it will limit the resolution of on-screen graphics, such as the program guide. So you'll probably prefer to scale your source devices to 1080p through their menus.

How do I fix a television that has no audio nor picture when turned on without having to purchase another?

The only thing you can do is look for television repairers in Yellow Pages and take it in for service, or take to the shop where you purchased it.

You can try pressing the button on the Remote for 'Source', just to make sure you aren't on a black screen with no signal input?

I have the same problem, i did try the external monitor it work i get an image, did try the flash light trick i could not see anything on the laptop screen can somebody help

The flashlight trick doesn't always make the desktop visible, so the trouble might still be just a bad inverter. But it's also possible the data cable from the motherboard to the display has completely broken. Sometimes they sever completely from flexing or because of rubbing against the hinge. Unfortunately, it's often not possible to get a data cable all by itself, just with a replacement screen. Compaq uses displays from several vendors, so your model may not have the same display panel as another. Using the wrong cable won't hurt anything, but the display won't work properly. The inverter board is the same, though; so if you haven't tried yet, you may want to replace it. It's not an expensive part and is available from several sources. Then the backlight should work, and if you still have no display you can decide whether to try replacing the display or the whole laptop.

My 46-inch Samsung LCD TV screen went black. Audio works.

If you are seeing light then the back light is working. Can you get a menu?Do any of the other video inputs work? If no video but has backlight and no men or any on screen display replace main board.

I am getting sounds only out of my tuner selection (radio) source

I would start off by doing exactly that removing the black box tuner out of the equation. The next question is did you install the black box or did you have someone else install it for you. If the box is not installed propperly then the audio outs could not be wired up correctly. Double check all of your connections. It could be something as simple as bad or no power to the box.

Every time I make a phone call My blackberry has a strange symbol

Hi,

The icon is an indicator for the Enhance Call Audio feature selected on the device. The Enhance Call Audio feature is designed to allow a user to adjust the sound quality over the earpiece of the device (e.g. Boost Bass or Boost Treble)

  4. Display the menu and select Save.
To improve sound quality during a phone call, complete the following steps:

1. During a phone call, display the menu and select Enhance Call Audio.
2. Select Boost Bass, Boost Treble or Normal.

To review the different Selectable Phone Equalizers during a phone call, press the L key. The enhancement specific icons are displayed on the active call screen.

My screen doesnt work.

I suggest you to perform these steps.
Test the AC adapter Follow the steps below to determine whether the problem is related to the AC adapter or your notebook system board.
  1. Remove the battery and disconnect all external devices from the computer.
  2. Hold the Power button for several seconds, with all power sources removed. This drains residual power from the system, and may correct many problems.
  3. Connect the AC adapter to a wall outlet and plug the other end into the computer.
  4. Press the Power button to start the notebook PC.
If the notebook does not start or the display is blank then check the power indicator light or power socket LED. I suggest you to connect the notebook to external monitor and check whether its working or not. Then please perform the harddrive self test also.

Won't switch to tuner

Sounds like the source button is not working properly. I have seen this type of problem caused by a crack in the display board. It can also be a bad contact on the source button.
Could be several other things as well, but most of the time it is something like a cracked board.
You can also try resetting the unit, look to see if there is a very small pin hole sized button on the display someplace, if so, use a paperclip or a toothpick, ect. to depress that switch. you might get lucky and the micro just needs to be reset. Sometimes you can reset a unit by disconecting the power wires for a few seconds, or just unplug the harness in the back for a short time.

Hope this helps
